Our last keynote speaker is the associate dean of research at the Faculty of Fine Arts and Music at the University of Melbourne and currently an Associate Editor of the Journal of Music Therapy. Felicity Baker is an International Lead Investigator of the HOMESIDE RCT, involving research teams in Australia, the UK, Norway, Poland and Germany and Lead Investigator on the project Music Attuned Technology Care eHealth (MATCH), involving interdisciplinary teams from the University of Melbourne, on which she will further elaborate in her lecture “Improvised Dementia Care: Music Attuned Technology Care via eHealth (MATCH)”

Our next speaker is professor and research leader of the Grieg Academy Music Therapy Centre (GAMUT) at the University of Bergen and the NORCE Norwegian Research Centre in Bergen. Viggo Krüger will present about “Community music therapy as treatment, prevention and creating connections, finding the balance through improvisation.”

Jaakko Erkkilä is professor of music therapy at the Department of Music at the University of Jyväskylä. He is head of the music therapy master’s training and two clinical music therapy trainings. He will present about “Examining computational improvisation analysis perspectives from both research and clinical practice viewpoints”

As a professor and Head of Art, Aesthetic & Health at the Department of Communication and Psychology at Aalborg University, Stine Lindahl Jacobsen’s expertise and interests lie withing understanding and using music and art as a way to enhance and strengthen health for individuals and groups in all layers of society. Her particular expertise extends specifically to vulnerable children, adolescents and families. One of her achievements in music therapy is the development of an assessment tool “Assessment of Parent-Child Interaction”, which has been implemented internationally both in practice and research. She will be enlightening us further on the subject in her lecture “Music improvisation can be key in understanding caregiver & child interaction across professions within social work.”

With over 25 years of experience in music therapy, psychology and medical research projects in Germany and Finland, Jorg Fachner is professor of Music, Health and the Brain and co-director of the Cambridge Institute of Music Therapy Research at Angli Ruskin University in Cambridge. He is a specialist for interdisciplinary research topics in the social, medical and music sciences. Joerg is interested in the use of technology to investigate social interaction in music and is a senior researcher of social neuroscience research projects in the UK and Austria, investigating dyadic brain activity of therapists and patients in music therapy with EEG hyperscanning. We are excited to hear him divulge specifics in his lecture: “Moments of interest, multi-modal and social neuroscience
approaches to improvisation and creative processes in music therapy.”
