Master of Science in Deglutology, Faculty of Medicine, KU Leuven The programme aims to train competent professionals in deglutology, the science of deglutition.

This one-year advanced Master of Science in Deglutology pioneers a unique academic degree in the science of swallowing. It originated from a societal demand for skilled professionals specialised in the integrated care of patients with swallowing disorders in the mouth, throat or oesophagus.

Voor mensen met een slikstoornis heeft elke maaltijd een impact op gezondheid, veiligheid én levenskwaliteit. Daarom zet KU Leuven zich in voor baanbrekend onderzoek en innovatieve zorg binnen de deglutologie, de wetenschap van het slikken.

Met het Mecenaatsproject Deglutologie willen we:
• onderzoek naar slikstoornissen versnellen;
• nieuwe behandelingen ontwikkelen;
• zorgverleners ondersteunen met innovatieve kennis en opleidingen;
• bijdragen aan een betere levenskwaliteit voor patiënten.

Kicking off the second semester, we were honored to welcome Professor Catriona Steele from Toronto to Leuven, sharing her expertise on texture modification and lingual strength & resistance training. We also tried the Iowa Oral Performance Instrument (IOPI) system for the first time – a unique learning experience
