Just catch yourself.
Not to judge. Not to fix.
Just… notice.
Notice the moment someone asks where you want to eat and before you've even thought about it, you've already said "Oh I don't mind, anywhere is fine."
And you meant it — in that moment, you really did.
Until you're sitting there, looking at the menu, quietly wishing you were somewhere else entirely.
Notice when the group decides on the film and you go along because it felt easier than suggesting something different — and two hours later you're walking out thinking I wouldn't have chosen that.
Not angry. Just… a little flat. A little somewhere-else.
That's the one worth catching.
That feeling of going through the motion of your own evening. Your own weekend. Your own time.
Showing up physically but not really there — because somewhere between the question and the answer, you didn't get a say.
Not because anyone took it from you.
But because you gave it away before you even knew you had it.
And it's not just the restaurant or the film.
It's the money spent on things that weren't really your choice. The hours given to plans that weren't really your preference. The small, quiet accumulation of half-hearted yeses that leave you feeling like you've been somewhere without ever really arriving.
Just catch yourself.
Not at the end, in the reflection.
In the moment. Right before the yes.
That tiny pause — that's where you start coming back to yourself.
Happy Friday. This weekend, try catching just one. 👀
