NEW PUBLICATION: CETRA is proud to spread the word about a new open access volume: Literary Translation Lifecycles: The Vital Networks Behind the Circulation of Dutch Literature (Routledge).

Bringing together 15 case studies (across 5 genres and 14 target languages), the book shows how translated literature really circulates — through networks of translators, editors, agents, publishers, and institutions. Many CETRA members contributed to the volume, and we’re delighted to share it widely.

📣 Call for participants – 2026 CETRA Summer School 📣

The call for participants for the 37th CETRA Research Summer School in Translation Studies is now open! https://www.arts.kuleuven.be/cetra/research-summer-school

CETRA is the longest-running summer school in translation studies, and has, for almost four decades, brought together doctoral and postdoctoral researchers from around the world.

📍 Antwerp
📅 24 August – 4 September 2026
🗓 Application deadline: 29 March 2026

We are very pleased to welcome Dorothy Kenny, a leading expert in AI and (literary) translation, as this year's CETRA Chair Professor. Her bio and lecture abstracts can be consulted here:
https://www.arts.kuleuven.be/cetra/people/dorothy-kenny

CETRA particularly encourages applications from pre- and post-doctoral researchers, especially those midway through their research trajectory. Over the years, many alumni have spoken of the so-called “CETRA effect”: the lasting intellectual, professional, and collegial impact of two intensive weeks of lectures, seminars, workshops, tutorials, and peer exchange in translation studies.

The poster is attached — please circulate it widely, print it, and post it wherever there may be interest. We also invite you to like and repost this announcement through your networks.

With best wishes for a happy and inspired holiday season, and we very much hope to welcome many of you to Antwerp next summer!

📣 We’re delighted to share that the full series of lectures by Professor Kobus Marais, CETRA Chair 2025, is now available on our YouTube channel.

In "The Complexity of Translation", Marais invites us to rethink translation through the lenses of complexity theory and (bio)semiotics — connecting meaning, matter, and life itself.
