ESF project Re-orientation pilots

In recent years it has again become clear how vulnerable the market is for pilots, which may make one think of a (shared) different career. Research has shown that education is in the top 5 of compatible competences for pilots in terms of the desired target professions.

In collaboration with Hogeschool VIVES the challenge was taken up to be able to inform pilots in a targeted way about the possibilities within teacher training. In order to explain these options, a specific information moment is planned on 18 May at 6 pm. This will be a digital information moment via Teams. De laatste jaren werd opnieuw duidelijk hoe kwetsbaar de markt is voor piloten, wat mogelijks aan het denken zet aan een (gedeelde) andere carrière. Uit onderzoek werd afgeleid dat onderwijs in de top 5 staat wat betreft competenties die compatibel zijn bij deze van de piloot i.f.v. de gewenste doelberoepen.

In samenwerking met Hogeschool VIVES werd de uitdaging aangegaan om piloten op gerichte manier te kunnen informeren over de mogelijkheden binnen de lerarenopleiding. Dear pilot,

As aviation is going through difficult times, many pilots have lost their jobs or find themselves in a critical employment situation.

This project, funded by the European Social Fund, aims to address these difficulties and provide solutions.

Our approach:
-Set up training for employment in which your skills as a pilot are recognized and used.
-Convert your license and experience into a diploma through a transition program.
-Propose measures that help you to maintain your class/type-rating when it is not used during a longer period.

Our starting point is a widespread survey of the pilot community.
It allows us to focus on the most critical barriers for employment at present.
The information collected is extremely valuable.

Aviation professionals encounter today many barriers towards career re-oriëntation, these barriers are individually different and depend on many factors.

Within the context of the project, we aim to provide several solutions to overcome these barriers such as:

1. Set up education for employment in which the skills of a pilot are recognized and used.
2. Convert the license and experience into a diploma through a transition program.
3. Propose measures that help pilots to maintain their type-rating when it is not used during a longer period.
