Meet the PCA Certified Personal Trainer ! Every week we put one of our students in the spotlight, this week you will meet Thomas Jansen, working full-time as a Personal Trainer since 2016.
1️⃣ Can you introduce yourself ?
Hi there, my name is Thomas. I am 26 years old, living in Bree. I’ve been a self-employed Personal Trainer since 4 years now. I graduated as an electromechanical engineer. However, I have never worked in this sector. After finishing my education I decided to follow my passion for sports and fitness and became a Certified Personal Trainer. I coach full-time at I-Fitness in Hasselt and I give online PT. I also give outdoor bootcamps during the Summer. In addition I teach evening classes to upcoming trainers at ‘Centrum voor Avondonderwijs’. I think being a Personal Trainer is the best job in the world because you can connect with so many different people (and you can wear comfy sports clothes all day 😊).
2️⃣ Why did you choose PCA for your education ?
I have followed a couple of workshops with PCA in the past and got to know some of their trainers/teachers. I loved the professionalism and was eager to learn more from them. PCA also provides a lot of advanced modules which I’m planning to follow in the future.
3️⃣ What did the NASM accreditation bring you ?
The NASM certification is very known internationally. I am a big advocate of continuous education and NASM allowed me to look at coaching from a different perspective.
4️⃣ What is your specialization ?
Working with people who are looking for a healthy, balanced lifestyle. People who want to escape their busy life and forget about everything else during for 60 minutes of me-time. I like to teach functional strength training because you need to be focused and aware of your movements.
5️⃣ What is the coolest exercise you like to do with your clients and why ?
I like to challenge my clients! It all starts with the basics of course, but once they’ve mastered that, there are no limits! I love the smile on their face when they ask: “Did you invented this yourself?”
6️⃣ What is the most fulfilling part in coaching others ?
Coaching others develops a certain type of relationship where trust is very important. Every person has their own story and background. Reaching goals which they never thought were possible, developing habits which they never thought they could, that is the most fulfilling part of it all. You give a lot of your energy to the client, but you get even more in return. That is the reason we are doing what we do.
7️⃣ What is your favorite quote ?
