⤵️ Underground Antwerp experience!
🕳️ Today, our international PhD students visited the Ruien, which hold a strong history of the city. From canals for trade to the sewage system, our guide took us along for a city walk a few meters below the surface.
⤴️ After a full body and very educative experience, we emerged ready to explore the city of “Hand-throwing” by ourselves! - Thank you all for joining!

🤩 Namur pour toujours! A group of international students visited this multi-faceted city today.
🌅 We started the day with the guided tour “Unusual Namur”, which showed is all the quirks of the city, combined with chunks of its history.
🏰 In the afternoon, there was time to to visit the Citadel, the Christmas Market or to just stroll around town.

Go check out De Poetsman (the janitor). A theater performance by Prince K. Appiah and Het nieuwstedelijk (the city theater of Hasselt, Genk, and Leuven). Performed in Dutch with English subtitles.

About De Poetsman
Belgian-Ghanaian Prince K. Appiah is a musician and actor. In his first self-written theater performance, he explores the bond between fathers and sons. If you ask him, the cleaner is one of the best. Yet he fails to get his own life as clean as the floors of the courthouse where he works. He often feels angry and alone. Like an island cut off from everything and everyone. Many relationships have broken down, the bond with his son severed. A profound encounter at work awakens something in him. He has something to set right.

👉🏼 We visited Historium Brugge (Bruges) to get an interactive idea of Bruges in the Golden Age. Afterwards it was time for some time to discover the city on everyone’s own place.

The summer holidays may be over, but the sun is shining especially for our international students today! 🌞🌎 A warm Hasselt University welcome everyone! 🤗
☀️🍲 Cooking with the Sun – Changing Lives, One Meal at a Time! 🌍💚
Charcoal cooking is still common in many places, but it’s harmful to people’s health and our planet. That’s why we started the Solar Cooker for All project — to make cooking cleaner, safer, and sustainable using the power of the sun!
This year, our amazing team of students from engineering, law, economics, and more worked together to design, test, and improve solar cookers. From 3D modeling in Belgium ➡️ to building and testing in Tanzania, we’ve been making sure our cookers are efficient, practical, and culturally fitting.
✅ On sunny days, commercial cookers still have the edge.
✅ On cloudy days, our cooker keeps the heat longer — making a real difference for everyday use!
But this project is more than just technology — it’s about people, cultures, and learning. Working with communities in Tanzania reminded us that happiness doesn’t come from having more things — it comes from sharing, connecting, and living sustainably. 💛
We’re bringing our experiences and lessons back home to improve our design and keep building towards a cleaner, healthier future.
