Wat heb je nodig? Wat heb je te veel?

Met deze vragen ging The School aan de slag in een poging om het gegeven van De Materialenbank in kaart te brengen. Zo kwamen een reeks kleine interventies tot stand en gingen we ook op bezoek bij bestaanden materialenbanken. De definitie van dit gegeven bleek al snel zeer rekbaar, omdat zo’n plek zich telkens laat beïnvloeden door de specifieke stad, buurt of inwoners die het dragen.

Daarom nodigden we 12 kunstenaars uit om de materialenbank te herdefiniëren binnen een specifieke context. Al deze inzichten bundelden we in een publicatie die we samen met een EXPO presenteren in FAX (Maastrichterstraat 9, Hasselt), aanstaande zaterdag 21 juni om 19u.

The School nodigt je uit voor de presentatie van de nieuwste publicatie over het onderzoek Ruimte in de Stad. Zaterdag 21 juni 19h in FAX.

The School organiseert Ruimte in de Stad, een doorlopend onderzoek naar ruimte voor kunst en community.
Tijdens de zomer van 2024 zond FAX haar participanten uit op reflectie-reis.
Stef Lemmens, Elke Cuppens, Mathias Kuypers, Ilse Jooken, Fee Veraghtert,
Masha Ivasenko, Milan Gillard en Annelies Clerix, Pablo Hannon trokken op reis en residentie.
Waar hebben zij nood aan, welke ruimte hebben zij nodig?
Met deze inzichten wordt de huidige ruimte van The School aangescherpt:
FAX werd nog toegankelijker vanaf eind 2024. Ook blikt het team vooruit naar een toekomstige nieuwe ruimte na FAX. Zelfreflectie staat naast het maken en presenteren centraal in 2024-2025.

FAX became even more accessible from the end of 2024. The team also looks ahead to a future new space after FAX. In addition to making and presenting, self-reflection is central in 2024-2025.

The School lanceert een open oproep. Wat heb je teveel? Wat heb je nodig? Wat is een materialenbank?

We zoeken vier
doeners, denkers, dansers, makers,
kunstenaars, schrijvers, wandelaars,
verzamelaars …

Stuur snel een pm en schrijf je voorstel in het formulier dat je krijgt.

Deadline: 1 december.
