🍻 Ghent Student Association | New & Returning Members Gathering — Our Top 6 Drinks!
The new academic year has started, and we're happy to welcome many new members to the association!
Our New & Returning Members Gathering was a chance for everyone to meet, catch up and get to know one another in a relaxed setting. For those who have just arrived in Ghent, it was an opportunity to get to know the association and the people around them a little better. For returning members, it was also a chance to reconnect and catch up after the summer.
We talked about our studies, everyday life in Belgium, and all the new experiences that come with living in a new city. Little by little, conversations turned into new connections and familiar faces.
For us, the gathering was more than just another event. It was about strengthening the connections between members, sharing experiences and information, and building a sense of community within the association.
🍷 And, of course, there was a little tasting session!
After trying quite a few drinks together, we selected our Top 6 most popular choices of the evening. If you've just arrived in Belgium and are wondering what to pick up at the supermarket, here are some options to try 👇
🥇 01 | MARTINI BELLINI
📍 Available at: Lidl / Delhaize
🍑 Sweet and fruity, with a noticeable peach flavour. It's smooth and easy to drink, with a relatively light alcohol taste — a good choice if you're new to this kind of drink.
🥈 02 | Stormhoek Moscato
📍 Available at: Albert Heijn (AH)
🍇 Sweet and fruity, with a fresh grape aroma and an easy-drinking character. A good option if you prefer sweeter, fruitier drinks.
🥉 03 | MARTINI SEMISECO
📍 Available at: Lidl / Delhaize
🍾 A semi-dry option with a lighter sweetness and a refreshing sparkling character. A nice choice if you prefer something less sweet.
🍎 04 | SOMERSBY
📍 Available at: Delhaize
🍏 Fresh and fruity, with a distinct apple flavour and a pleasant sweet-and-sour taste. Easy to enjoy while chatting and hanging out with friends.
🍺 05 | RODENBACH
📍 Available at: Albert Heijn (AH)
🍒 A Belgian classic with a refreshing, slightly sour character and subtle fruity notes. Quite different from a typical light l***r, and definitely worth trying if you want to explore Belgian b**r.
🍺 06 | TRIPEL LEFORT
📍 Available at: Delhaize
🍺 Fuller-bodied, with more pronounced malt and b**r flavours. Compared with the fruitier drinks above, this one has a more distinctive b**r character. A good option if you enjoy Belgian-style Tripel b**rs.
✨ For us, this gathering was about more than just getting together.
Whether you've just arrived in Ghent or have already been here for a while, we hope the association can be a place where you meet new people, exchange experiences and make your life in Belgium a little more connected.
More events are coming throughout the year — dinners, social gatherings, cultural exchanges, city explorations and more.
If you're in Ghent, come and meet us! 👋
