Some of you may have already noticed β€” our catalogue has undergone a visible transformation since June 2025. That’s because we’ve officially switched to a brand-new cataloging system here at Kunstenbibliotheek and Muziekbibliotheek!

These kinds of changes don’t come around often. In fact, some of our team members have been working with our previous system, Aleph, for over a decade. So, with a mix of excitement and a touch of nostalgia, we say goodbye to our trusted companion.

Aleph, with its unmistakably 20th-century interface, served us well. But with this transition and data migration, we’re hopeful that many features will now be more streamlined and user-friendly. Of course, the past few weeks have brought their fair share of nostalgic frustrations β€” as is often the case when saying farewell to an old friend.

We’re eagerly learning the ins and outs of the new system, and while it may take a little time to fully settle in, we’re confident it will be worth it.

To this day female musicians and composers are underrepresented. In this male dominating field we want to share this feminist study on musical women in England, their challenges and contribution to the music scenery.
