'Listening to People: a masterclass'. After a year of webinars, it was high time for some real-life intellectual interaction and it was well worth it. Annette Lareau treated us to a live-interview in front of an audience and shared her experience in becoming a skilled interviewer, and that was just the morning-session. In the afternoon she provided comments and feedback on the on-going work of our Phd-students and talked about the challenges of producing 'qualitative' qualitative research. Great event and just the intro to the real work in our 'Socializing Inequality'-workshop. (also many thanks to the VUB weKONEKT-team for providing us with a wonderful location)

As the famous Dutch philosopher Johan Cruijff once said: "Every downside has its upside". While COVID has forced academia to shift into the digital realm, it has also made classroom interaction less tied to physical location. With that in mind, our co-chair Giselinde Kuipers is curating an exciting online course/podcast-series featuring scholars from across the globe whose work is devoted to tackling the link between contemporary culture and inequality, including a fair deal of ECCI-members. You can already check out the first podcasts, which will also feature on our website soon, complete with readings and assignments. To be continued!
