🛫 To be a pilot means to be away from home while others celebrate a birthday, to wake up while others are still asleep, to continue concentrating while others would be exhausted and ready to give up, to go through six-monthly exams and assessments while others are taking it easy, to form a new team every day while others enjoy the comfort of knowing who they work with.

✋Being a pilot is not for everyone.

🥹 Seeing our graduates join their first airline, transition to widebody and longhaul operations, become a captain, star in a great .be tv show about , or join Skywings again as an instructor, is always a moment of absolute pride.

🇧🇪 Welcome in OO-SKT! Skywing’s latest addition to the fleet: a Da42 VI Twin engine training aicraft that will eventually replace our older Twin Star, OO-SKW.

🤫 This newer generation aircraft is more performant but also a lot more silent than its predecessors. Therefor, the aircraft can be used for touch and go training in , a major advantage compared to older versions.

🌩️ The aircraft also has a weather radar, enabling it to better navigate en-route weather on longer flights, and enabling our students to learn how to operate this equipment as well.

🤩 Going solo! Auguste and Tim went on their first solo flight yesterday, under a bright Spanish sun ☀️ in our fair weather base in Castellon, Spain 🇪🇸

🙏 Welcome in OO-SKS! This factory-new aircraft will support our operations to train Belgium’s next generation of airline pilots.

🤩 So this happened today!

Not one but 2️⃣ new joiners to the Skywings fleet were ferried to Belgium today. ✈️ OO-SKS, a factory-new Diamond Da40 NG came freshly from the factory in Wiener-Neustadt 🇦🇹, while ✈️ LN-PFE (soon to be named OO-SKT), a 2019 built Da42 VI NG was ferried from its previous owner in Torp 🇳🇴.

The two aircraft have arrived at our maintenance partner in and will join the Skywings fleet in the coming weeks after registration by the Belgian CAA.

🙏 Thank you to ferry pilots Filip and Kurt for bringing the birds safely to their new home countries!

🥳 ✂️ Skywings has officially opened a new part of its campus, located in the building. The campus has 3 large classrooms and a new student lounge with a kitchen. The classrooms will be used for our Integrated ATPL and MPL theory training as well as for official EASA exams.

🤭We had a very high profile visit from the one and only Saint Nicholas yesterday. While he may not fit in our Da40 training aircraft with the canopy closed, the Saint concluded that our students had been behaving well the past year and deserved some 🍫 chocolate and clementines 🍊.
