I love this time of the year when children can get introduced to the flute and playing the flute!
So here is what I did this time:
🌟Starting with introducing my best friend the flute: i find it so important that children can name the different parts of the flute. So I introduce them to the head-joint, body and foot-joint.
🌟Breathing activity: we warmed up our breathing without the flute first, using windmills and staws.
🌟Embouchure and breathing: using the . I always want the children to be aware of the fact that observation with both eyes and ears is important to play the flute. Then they could try to play on the pneumopro.
🌟Playing on the flute: the children had the chance to play in the headjoint of the flute and on the toot. And guess what! They all got sound from the very first time! What a motivation!!!!
🌟Cleaning the flute: i showed the children how to clean the flute and how to take care of it.
🌟Little flute bundle to take home: they all got a little bundle to continue the flutefun at home!

The whole time I let parents join and it was a huge succes! ❤️

Remembering a wonderful flute teaching week during summer break 2022. It was SO HOT! 🥵 We could barely continue playing! 😅 But we had so much fun. 🤩

I worked with advanced flute students on basics like: articulation, breathing, style, sound colors, dynamics and musical characters, posture, sound projection… and so much more! This student really developed her skills so much in just one week and brought a stunning Mozart’s Concerto in D during the final recital of the music camp! ❤️👏🏼

Starting our flute lessons after enjoying 2 weeks of holidays!
So what did we do? A full lesson on breathing fun, headjoint fun, full flute fun, fingerfun to practice new songs for our upcoming concert.

Breathing fun:
1. Starting with deep inhalation and exhaling 4 beats over the pneumopro. Checking our embouchure and our air direction.
2. Using rhythm cards to create our own song and practice to play our rhythm song on the Pneumopro and articulating with tongue!

Headjoint fun
1. Doing the same exercises as in the Breathing fun activity, but then on the head joint. Off course having fun playing it with an open and a closed head joint and yeah… practicing our tongue articulation at the same time!

Full flute fun:
Taking our full flute now, we practice all the notes we already know, playing them slow and long with our best sound! And off course.. learning a new note 🙃To end this activity i made note cards with the name of the notes and as well the position of those notes in the music staff. Kids had to look, find the right fi*****ng and then play the note together on their flutes.

New Songs Practice:
As we are going to play a lovely concert very soon, we start to practice new songs. Letting our flutes rest on our shoulder, we can read/say the notes together out loud and practice our fingers at the same time! Finally we play the songs together on our flutes!

At the end of the lesson… we are fully ready to start our practice sessions at home with a positive outcome guaranteed, because we already know we can play well what we have to practice!

YEAY!!!! GREAT FIRST LESSON OF THE SECOND SEMESTER!

It is (again) the most wonderful time of the year! 🤩🎅🏼
Preparing little hats for the winter wishes and winterconcert of our little !

❄️During winter our flutes are cold too, just like us. So I always tell them that they should take well care of their friend and that when they practice at home they should always put the hat on their flutes…! Best practice motivation EVER! 😉

❄️The little flutists LOVE to perform during their winterconcert, just to be able to show off their awesome hats! ☺️

Autumn Flute Concert! What a wonderful concert did we play! My 10 had so much fun performing a head joint duet with me!

You are probably wondering… “head joint duet”…? Yeah! We performed “The Donkey” by C. Saint Saens, in an arragement by and myself. In our Lessonplan bundle ‘Fluteplay with the animals 2’ you can find this lovely duet that can be played in 3 different ways:

1. The little flutists play the high notes on their head joints while you, the teacher, or an advanced student play the chromatic melody.
2. Let two intermediate students perform the duet, one playing the high notes on the head joint and the other playing the chromatic line.
3. Let one intermediate/ more advanced student perform the piece using harmonics to let the high note sound!

So much fun!

Teaching flute is one of the most fulfilling things I get to do. ❤️

-To see how my students develop new skills and make them their own. -To think of fun, playful and creative ways to encourage my students in their learning process.
-To see their love and their joy reflect in their flute playing every time they come to their flute lesson.
-To receive recordings and pictures of them practicing at home, sent by my students spontaneously!
-To receive hugs from them whenever you see them somewhere outside the flute lesson!

For that I am most grateful!

How do you experience flute teaching? Why is it your passion!
