💙 Together for EU Code Week: celebrating our impact and shaping what comes next.

A very special two days in Brussels brought together more than 90 members of the EU Code Week Community and Code4Europe consortium for our final face-to-face meeting of this two-and-a-half-year journey.

Hosted by Cisco Belgium, EU Code Week ambassadors, leading teachers, education coordinators, community members and project partners came together to celebrate what this remarkable community has achieved — and look ahead to EU Code Week 2026 and beyond. 🚀

Over the past two years, EU Code Week activities have reached more than 20 million young people across Europe, engaging them in coding, computational thinking and digital skills.

Through workshops, discussions and exchanges, we reflected on that impact and explored how we can build on it to make EU Code Week even stronger in the years ahead.

We were especially grateful to welcome Annika Ostergren Pofantis, one of the founders of EU Code Week, Alessandro Bogliolo, Janne Elvelid and EU Code Week Community Council President Evgeni Minev, bringing together voices that have shaped EU Code Week from its early days with those carrying its mission forward today.

A huge thank you to the European Commission, DG CONNECT / EU Digital & Tech and HaDEA for their support throughout the Code4Europe journey, including Ioannis Gaviotis from DG CONNECT, who joined us in Brussels.

And thank you to Cisco for opening its doors to our community. 💙

MISSION 04: Communication on the Moon. 📡

Your WhatsApp wouldn't work. Every message to Earth takes 1.3 seconds each way. The far side of the Moon has no line of sight to Earth at all. And outside, there's no air, so you can't even shout.

That's the Communication challenge, one of five real engineering problems being solved by 200 Belgian students through the Space Station Innovation Challenge, a programme by JA Europe, Boeing, and Vlajo.

On 14 October in Brussels, we’re going Beyond Screen Time to explore how meaningful digital experiences can help young people build entrepreneurial mindsets and future-ready skills.

Featuring JA Compass from the EU-funded Game4Change project, the session will showcase how gamified learning can turn technology into an opportunity to learn, explore and build skills.

The International Bebras Community is joining EU Code Week as a Supporter, bringing together communities working across coding, computational thinking and digital skills. 💻🧠

The collaboration is part of a wider initiative connecting these three ecosystems and exploring how BEBRAS and EU Code Week can work as complementary gateways for digital education.

As Founder and CEO of Veriff, Kaarel leads a team working to stay ahead of sophisticated fraud in an increasingly complex digital identity landscape. His leadership has been recognised across Europe: the Order of the White Star from Estonia's President, a place on the EU Forbes 30 Under 30 list, and EY Entrepreneur of the Year in Estonia.

Kaarel is part of the 2026 FERD's List cohort, honoured at Gen-E 2026.
