Tijdens de finaleweek van de Koningin Elisabethwedstrijd kwamen onze studenten en directeur Lulu Aertgeerts in actie voor de 'Requiem for Culture'-protestactie en dat bleef niet onopgemerkt. VRT bracht het verhaal van onze internationale studenten die zwaar getroffen worden door de verdubbeling van het inschrijvingsgeld voor niet-Europeanen.

Want diversiteit is ons sterkste punt. En daar blijven we voor vechten. 💙

Muzikale protestactie bij Koningin Elisabethwedstrijd tegen hoger inschrijvingsgeld voor niet-Europese conservatoriumstudenten | VRT NWS Nieuws De hele finaleweek van de Koningin Elisabethwedstrijd spelen conservatoriumstudenten muziek net buiten Bozar in Brussel, uit protest tegen de forse verhoging van het inschrijvingsgeld voor studenten van buiten de Europese Unie. “Hierdoor gaan studenten stoppen”, zeggen 2 musici uit China.

In this concert, students from the Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel present a varied programme of Mexican music and Latin American classics. They perform works by Manuel M. Ponce, Eugenio Toussaint, and Julio César Oliva, alongside well-known songs by Agustín Lara, Bobby Capó, and Salvador Morlet. For part of the programme, the students take an active creative role, making their own arrangements and adaptations, reimagining the music through their instruments and artistic voices. Flute, guitar, piano, voice, and ensemble alternate in duo settings and larger formations, with close attention to colour, rhythm, and text, creating a vivid musical journey between tradition and contemporary interpretation.

Jeroen Reuling | Masterclass Cello Jeroen Reuling was born into a musical family and trained with Jean Decroos, André Navarra, and Pierre Fournier. After a successful debut at the Concertgebouw, he quickly established himself as a sought-after soloist, performing with orchestras and conductors across Europe and Asia. In 1983, he was awarded the Audience Prize in Amsterdam. From 1983 to 2004, he served as principal cellist of Het Gelders Orkest. Today, he balances teaching in Brussels and at ARTEZ (Netherlands) with an active chamber music career.
