Here’s everything we did last week at in Glasgow!

⭐ After our successful first edition as exhibitors in Gothenburg, we came back this year in full force, and as the event grows with participants and sessions each year, so does our participation in it.

🤝 We met over 200 people at our booth, discussing from professionals around the world, and even more at our poster and panel sessions: we exchanged best practices, showcased our model of student mobility and civic engagement, and engagement in honest discussions about Joint Bachelor degrees and the challenges of being a European University Alliance.

❤️ Thanks to all the people who heard us present, thanks to those who came up to us with their questions, and to everyone that will reach us in the following weeks. Thanks to and all the other alliances for coordinating our joint efforts to show how we build the future of Higher Education, and thanks to for organizing this amazing event that each year keeps growing.

And an even more special thanks to our speakers and everyone that worked on the booth, for representing YUFE with openness and passion.

We’re hiring a Communications and Monitoring Officer, and it could be you!
 
You’ll join our international team in the YUFE Central Office in Brussels to manage our website, coordinate the YUFE seed funding scheme, support content planning and reporting, and help run events across the whole alliance. And of course, you’ll get to shape the future of Higher Education in Europe!
 
What we’re looking for:
 
✅ Master’s degree
✅ 3+ years in Communications/Dissemination
✅ Expertise in MS Office (Sharepoint is a plus), Canva, WordPress, Mailchimp
✅ Fluent English (other EU languages a plus)

📢 Hybrid Webinar: Interdisciplinarity in Climate Research: A Challenge for ECRs?

Can research really cross disciplines, or does it just fall through the cracks between them?

📆 On 15 September 2026 (13:00–14:00 CET), join "Interdisciplinarity in Climate Research," a live panel held during the BioYUFE Annual Meeting in Brussels. We are asking what it actually takes for interdisciplinary work to thrive, and why so much of it still falls through the cracks between fields, funders and journals.

Confirmed speakers: Karl Ziemelis, Chief Applied & Physical Sciences Editor at Nature; Professor James Blande, expert in Chemical Ecology at the University of Eastern Finland; and Olivier Boehme, Scientific Advisor on Research Subsidies and Grants, Research Foundation Flanders (FWO).

🗓 Counting the days to !

In Glasgow, YUFE will be present in full force, with a stand and a number of poster and panel sessions.

📢 We're bringing the European Degree project further.

Thanks to funding received under the Erasmus+ European Degree Exploratory Actions, YUFE and the partners of the EDL-STEP project will keep developing existing and upcoming joint programmes, building the European Degree Label through practice.

EDL-STEP brings together nine universities from YUFE, Epicur Alliance and ECIU to pilot and design innovative Joint Programmes. Within YUFE, Maastricht University, the UAntwerp and the Sveučilište u Rijeci / University of Rijeka join as full beneficiaries, alongside a wide network of partners including EQAR - European Quality Assurance Register, Students'​ Union (ESU), Erasmus Student Network and Eucor – The European Campus, bringing together expertise in quality assurance, student representation and higher education policy from across Europe.

This work builds directly on what we've already started with the YUFE Joint Bachelor: testing and refining the frameworks, recognition mechanisms and governance models needed to deliver truly joint programmes at scale. EDL-STEP allows us to exchange best practices, share challenges and co-develop situations across alliances, contributing practical evidence to help shape how the European Degree Label will work across the continent.
