One of our youngest pupils began their journey of learning beyond the classroom!
Reception children enjoyed their very first school outing to the Montagne Magique Theatre in Brussels. And it was, quite simply, magical.
The children relished the chance to step beyond the school gates and discover the wider world. Everyday sights — walking along a city street or spotting a police car — became moments of wonder when shared with friends.
They conducted themselves beautifully on public transport and in the theatre, making us all very proud. The performance, Chromatique, was a feast for the senses, weaving together rhythm, colour, and sound to spark imagination and creativity.

The KS1 children went to the Tournesol–Zonnebloem Environmental Centre to better understand their topic on “Growing and Changing.”
During the visit, they learned how to identify trees by their leaves, buds, and bark, working in groups with identification sheets to figure out which tree they were observing.
The children also enjoyed making bark and leaf rubbings using wax crayons, capturing the unique patterns they found.
One of the highlights was a sensory game where, wearing blindfolds, they had to guess the tree based only on the feel of its trunk and bark—such a fun and engaging challenge!
Back in the classroom, they explored how plants grow by observing what happens when seeds are missing key elements such as soil, water, warmth, or light. The children then planted their own germinated bean seeds, ensuring they had all the right conditions to grow strong and healthy.

Evenings were just as exciting, with a wonderful talent show and lots of fun table games bringing everyone together.
It’s been a memorable experience for the children full of exploration, teamwork, and joy.
Well done to all our young adventurers!

The Year 5 and 6 children have been learning about rationing and food shortages in Belgium during World War 2.
The class used their ration books and realised how difficult it could be to acquire the right amount of ingredients needed to follow the recipes from the Wartime Ration Cookbook.
After sharing and bartering resources with their classmates, they were rewarded with a delicious jam and carrot sponge, a 'no cook chocolate cake' made from breadcrumbs and cocoa and a chocolate layer cake that was well risen with no eggs!

We’re delighted to share that our Book Swap was a great success.
The Junior department children brought along a favourite book from home (some even two!) and enjoyed choosing a new title to borrow from someone else.
Everyone noted down who had borrowed their book, and all titles will make their way back to their owners by 10 April.
It was wonderful to see so much enthusiasm for reading — plenty of excited conversations, thoughtful recommendations, and children discovering stories they might not have picked up otherwise.
A huge well done to the School Council for organising such a positive, community‑minded event. Here’s to even more shared reading and book‑chat across the Junior Department.

What a gorgeous afternoon for our biannual Spring Walk.
Families, children and a few very proud pets joined us for a gentle wander through the woods, spotting early blossoms and enjoying the fresh air together.
Thank you to everyone who came along — such a simple tradition, but it always feels wonderfully special.

What a brilliant World Book Day we had at school!
The children came dressed as their favourite book characters and we loved seeing all the amazing costumes during our parade.
Our KS2 pupils also headed to Georges Henri Park for a book-themed orienteering challenge. By solving clues along the way, they discovered the title of our summer show… Hansel and Gretel!
A wonderful day celebrating reading and imagination. Well done everyone!

Our KS1 children enjoyed a fantastic walk around the local area, exploring the positive environmental features that make our community special — from trees and green spaces to recycling points and tidy public areas.
They also learned to spot some of the challenges in our environment, such as litter, graffiti and busy traffic. A real highlight was meeting the Schaerbeek commune gardening team, who told us all about their planting projects and even invited the children to help with future planting.
It was a fun, informative outing that helped our young learners appreciate and care for their local environment.
