ELCA - European Landscape Contractors Association

In close cooperation with our German colleagues at Bundesverband Garten-, Landschafts-, und Sportplatzbau e.V. and the GaLaBau Trade Fair, ELCA presents the next edition of the ELCA Trend Award on September 15th 2026.

The Award highlights new developments in our sector that will shape the future of our green business.

Our French colleagues at Unep were asked to nominate projects. They put forward five:
the Biotope Green Roof project in Lille,
the Leon's Shared Garden project in Paris,
the Necker Hospital project in Paris,
the PSG Training Centre in Poissy, and
the Biome project in Paris.

All are innovative, high-level projects.

The jury recently visited each site to make a thorough assessment and determine the winner. Results stay under wraps until the Award ceremony.

At the ELCA Committee of Firms, we are delighted to welcome four new Business Seat Members:

Each company has received its Business Seat membership certificate, marking a closer partnership with ELCA and a stronger voice within our network.

Business Seat Members are invited to participate in Presidium meetings (without voting rights) and are consulted on political opinions and position papers. Their active involvement helps strengthen ELCA's advocacy work in Brussels while supporting valuable knowledge exchange across our European company platform.

We also continue to expand our Associate Membership, welcoming suppliers to the landscape sector. A warm welcome to our newest Associate Members: Loxam, Hunter Global, and Avant.

Following our recent CoF excursion to Austria, we're delighted to announce the next destination: Santiago de Compostela, Spain - hosted by the FEEJ - Federación Española de Empresas de Jardinería .

The programme offers a rich mix of professional and cultural experiences, including visits to the City of Culture Gardens, private landscape projects, and the 16th Allariz International Garden Festival. We will also be received by the President of the Galician Parliament and enjoy a guided tour of the Pazo do Horreo.

It is with sadness, that we inform you about the passing of our dear colleague Rien van der Spek on Sunday the 25th of January, 2026.

We remember Rien for his long lasting and very motivated commitment to ELCA. In his time as President of the Dutch association Royal VHG, he was already actively involved in the work of our Presidium. Between 2021 and 2024 he was member of our Board.

Rien brought in his well appreciated practical approach, overview, and calmness. He was convinced about the European cooperation in ELCA in which we together developed our sector, companies, and ourselves. During the professional excursions of the ELCA Committee of Firms, Rien was keen on sharing his impressive knowledge and experiences with others. It was always a pleasure to be with him and to exchange with him. We will miss him a lot.

Our thoughts are with his family and all who are dear to him.
