I tried to say “in my opinion” in Dutch
and said “in mijn opinie” 🤷🏻‍♀️

Sounds logical, right? 🤔But in Dutch we usually say:
“volgens mij” 🇧🇪

Sometimes the literal translation just doesn’t work.
What expression always tricks you? 🙃

How NOT to say “difficile” 😅
That one humbled me.

But I got it right… eventually 💪🏼
What word do you always mispronounce?

Enjoy the bloopers 🤭

I teach languages every day, while I’m still refining one myself. 🇧🇪

Since our last challenge, I’ve started to feel more at home in Dutch and I finally found the courage to speak it more often and with more confidence.

However, now a new challenge is showing up. Speaking Dutch socially is one thing.
Using it professionally is another. 😅

In daily conversations, I often fall back on basic vocabulary or slip into West-Flemish without realising it. And in a professional context, that makes things harder.

So here’s my goal for this new challenge:
To express myself more fluently in Dutch and to clearly distinguish between standard Dutch and dialect when it matters. ⭐️

Because feeling confident is a great start, but sounding professional is the next step.

I'm really looking forward to this next challenge!
And if you are struggling with professional Dutch too, we got you. 😁

Isn’t it amazing how one language can completely change our personality? ✨

That’s why we enjoy these polyglot checks so much.
Here are Giulia’s multiple personalities! 🤌🏼

Which one is your favorite? 😁

My students’ Italian is improving, while mine is stuck at the same level. 😬

Thanks to last year’s challenge, I can confidently assess my students’ level. ⭐️

However, once they start lessons with Giulia, something happens.
Their Italian improves, while mine stays exactly where it is.

At some point, I can’t even keep up with them anymore.
And that’s confronting. 😅

So here’s my goal for this new challenge:
By the end of it, I want to have real, basic conversations with my Italian students, without switching to Dutch right after asking them “Come stai?”. 💬

Because if I expect growth from my students, I should expect it from myself too.
I’m up for this challenge. 💪🏼

What about you? When was the last time you challenged yourself?

22/02/2026

Our progress from last year’s challenge, or at least what’s left of it. 😅

What do you remember from our last challenge? 😁

21/02/2026

Happy International Mother Language Day!
🇫🇷🇧🇪🇬🇧🇮🇹🇪🇸

I wanted to celebrate this day with a little polyglot check / personal day in the life 🤭

PS we listen and we don’t judge (my Spanish) please! 🤫
