Sint Lucas Antwerpen has been collaborating with Birzeit University .university in Palestine for many years. Last March, the planned visit of the students and lecturers we work with to Belgium couldn’t happen because of the war on Iran.
During the GRADUATION TOUR, we are honoured to finally welcome the 10 art and design students and 4 lecturers from Birzeit University to Antwerp to take part in our annual GRADUATION TOUR.
Since October 2025, we have been collaborating within the project "The Meaning of Home: A Perpetual State of Displacement," which has also involved students and lecturers from the Gerrit Rietveld Academie, the School for New Dance Development, and If I Can't Dance, I Don't Want To Be Part of Your Revolution in Amsterdam.
Against the backdrop of the ongoing attacks on Palestinian identity, its origins, its presence, and its future, we have reflected throughout a series of online gatherings on what it means to be connected to a place. What is the meaning of home when people are forced to rebuild it again and again after each displacement?
On Thursday, June 18, the students from Birzeit University will take the stage to present their practices and give insight in what it entails to study art in our current situation. Come to see their work, engage in conversation, and support the collective struggle for dignity, freedom, and justice.
