🌷The world is waking up and it’s the perfect time for a fresh start.🌷

If you’ve been thinking about a goal and making plans, now is a great time to put your plan into action by building new habits. Are you ready to start taking steps towards achieving your goals?

When building habits, ask yourself these questions:
🌸 Which habit will help you achieve your goal?
🌸 Which steps can you take to build that habit?
🌸 What’s the smallest step you can take to get started?
🌸 What’s the next step?

James Clear created a great framework for changing behaviour in his book Atomic Habits. To build habits that stick, make them obvious, attractive, easy and satisfying. Think about when and where you will build your habit. Make sure it’s something you actually want to do. Make it as small and simple as possible. Find a way to make it rewarding.

And when the going gets tough, remember why you want to build this habit. You are what you do. So, who do you want to be? Everything you do is a vote for or against who you want to be and the life you want to lead.

This season, follow the flowers’ lead and let yourself bloom. 🌹

As the seasons change, our energy changes with them. So it makes sense to align our actions with nature’s rhythm.

🍂 Autumn is the perfect time for setting goals. The bright and busy days of Summer are over, and it’s a natural time to reflect on what you’ve achieved this year and what you want for the year ahead. Think about which seeds you want to plant. What do you want your harvest to look like?

❄️ Winter, the usual time for making resolutions and starting new habits and routines, is actually not a good time for starting anything new. It’s time to plant your seeds in the soil and let them rest. It’s time to nourish your body and mind. It’s when you can make plans for achieving your goals, and make sure you’re rested and ready to go once Winter is over.

🌷In Spring, the world is buzzing with new life. This is the time to put your plans into action, to help your seeds blossom. Use the energy of the returning sun. Start building those new habits. Take steps towards achieving your goals.

🍓 In the Summer, you’ll start to reap the rewards of your Springtime actions. It’s the season of growth and progress. It’s time to enjoy your successes and keep on working towards the next harvest. Learn from your journey so far. Think about what’s working and what isn’t, and adjust accordingly.

In November, the days start getting darker and colder.

Not getting enough sunlight can have a big impact on our health and wellbeing. It can even cause Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) or Seasonal Depression.

While most people won't experience SAD, I think we've all felt the winter blues at some point.

Here are some ways to beat the winter blues for a Healthy Happy You:
✨ Go outside. Try to spend an hour in daylight every day (life hack: get a dog). This will stimulate melatonin production in the evening and help you get a good night’s sleep.
✨ Exercise. Bonus points if you do it outdoors in the morning. This will help increase your serotonin levels.
✨ Eat foods high in Vitamin D (fatty fish, red meat, liver, egg yolks, cheese) or take a supplement if you’re vegetarian or vegan.
✨ Use a daylight lamp (also called a light therapy lamp). Invest in a good one (must have full-spectrum bulbs) and sit in front of it for 20-30 minutes first thing in the morning. This has been an absolute game-changer for me! I use it when I’m on my elliptical machine, while getting ready, or at my desk.
✨ Make an extra effort to look after your mental wellbeing. Embrace the cosy season, schedule time for things that make you happy, and make rest a priority.
✨ And don't be afraid to ask for help if you think you need it.
