Samenschool

A walk where the surroundings are experienced from different angles. Urban fringes can emerge as a biotope, as a surface carrying different events and (personal) histories. Along the river, the Schijn, questions may float above about how this kind of "discovery" of your environment can be placed as being postcolonial or decolonial. We walk as a way of looking, sharing thoughts, exchanging knowledge and impressions. Our walk can also be a gathering tour, there will be time to take notes, draw, fill your pockets with sticks, shells, stones, seeds, we will also make recordings that we can play on the radio central.

A collective investigation into stories that emerge during the walk, an archive of any kind of information. Will this result in something tangible like a publication or database? A certain possible outcome, but let's take a walk first.

We'll be doing our homework on the history, geology, fauna and flora along the way, so you can be sure that this will be discussed, and you are free to add other information or interact whenever you want. That is why we also provide the route.

Route: Start 27th of April at 9am, Samenschool, Borsbeekstraat 130, 2140 Antwerp.

Continued approximately along these streets: Gijselstraat, Rechtestraat, Jan de Laetstraat, Florastraat > Under the railway > Buurtspoorweglei, Turnhoutsebaan (the ring road over the viaduct), Ring cycle path > Rivierenhof, Parkweg, Eksterlaarpad, Sterckshoflei > under the viaduct out of the park > Wouter Haecklaan, Hendrik Van Uffelslaan, Collegelaan, Ring cycle path > Over the ring road again > Stenenbrug, Ring cycle path, Turnhoutsebaan (> End 1. Samenschool garden) or Gijselstraat, Borsbeekstraat End 2. Samenschool.

This walk will probably take 3 hours. No need for cellphones.

Wednesday, October 2, starting at 19h  at Samenschool. Turn your fabric inside out and personalize your underwear by embroidering. We will learn various techniques to transform this simple piece of fabric. Everyone is welcome to join and develop your sewing and embroidery skills! (Please bring your underwear.)

Woensdag 18 september vanaf 14u papierscheppen bij samenschool. We ontdekken samen hoe je papierresten kan recycleren door nieuw papier te scheppen, het is ook mogelijk om tekeningen/ collages te maken via cut-outs. Welkom om mee te experimenteren! (breng gerust een emmer/ papierresten mee)

Wednesday, September 18th from 2 PM, paper making at Samenschool. Together, we will discover how to recycle paper scraps by making new paper. It is also possible to create drawings/collages through cut-outs. You are welcome to join and experiment! (Feel free to bring a bucket/paper scraps).

Samenschool Herbarium in samentuin Bretel, deze zondag 10 Juli vanaf 13h: gedroogde kruiden en zaden in zakjes doen en kennis delen over geneeskrachtige planten. Op zoek naar herborist. Een soort van event om mensen te ontmoeten omdat wij er niet veel van kennen.

Woensdag 10 juli in de samentuin Bretel van 16u tot 19u.

Deze sessie zal een hands-on, praktische introductie zijn in het bereiden en consumeren van chłodnik. Verfrissend, heerlijk en ongelooflijk roze, deze koude soep is perfect op een zomerse dag* en zal je doen denken: "wow, dat is heel roze, ze verzon dat niet." Heb je dieetbeperkingen? Neem van tevoren contact op met [email protected] en ik weet zeker dat we samen een manier zullen vinden om deze koude soep voor jou geschikt te maken.
*Bij slecht weer kan deze workshop worden aangepast naar een warm gerecht, omdat koude soep op een koude dag best triest is.

Ta sesja będzie praktycznym wprowadzeniem do przygotowywania i spożywania chłodnika. Orzeźwiająca, pyszna i niesamowicie różowa, ta zimna zupa jest idealna na letni dzień* i sprawi, że pomyślisz: "wow, to naprawdę jest różowe, nie zmyślała tego." Masz jakieś ograniczenia dietetyczne? Skontaktuj się wcześniej pod adresem [email protected], a jestem pewna, że razem znajdziemy sposób, aby dostosować tę zimną zupę do Twoich potrzeb.
*W przypadku złej pogody warsztaty mogą zostać dostosowane do przygotowania ciepłego dania, ponieważ zimna zupa w zimny dzień jest dość smutna.

Making Cold Soup with Misia Halwa
Wednesday, July 10th in the Bretel Community Garden from 4 PM to 7 PM.

This session will be a hands on, practical introduction to preparing & consuming chłodnik. Refreshing, delicious and incredibly pink, this cold soup is perfect on a summer day* and will make you think: "wow, that's very pink, she wasn't making that up." Any dietary restrictions? Contact [email protected] beforehand and I'm sure together we'll find a way to make this cold soup work for you.

*In case of bad weather this workshop may be amended to a warm food, because cold soup on a cold day is quite sad.
