Name of poem- O Me! O Life!
Poet- Walt Whitman
1. “O Me! O Life! of the questions of these recurring,”
হায় আমি! হায় জীবন! বারবার ফিরে আসা এসব প্রশ্নের জন্য আমি খুবই চিন্তিত।
Explanation-
The poet begins by expressing his deep sadness and confusion about life. He is troubled by many questions that repeatedly come to his mind. He wonders about the meaning and purpose of human life. These questions make him feel restless and dissatisfied. He is unable to find a clear answer to why people live, suffer and struggle in this world.
2. “Of the endless trains of the faithless,”
অবিশ্বাসী মানুষের অন্তহীন মিছিল আমাকে হতাশ করে।
Explanation:
Here, the poet talks about the large number of people who have lost their faith, hope and ideals. “Endless trains” suggests that there are countless such people in the world. They may live without believing in anything meaningful or valuable. Their lack of faith makes life seem empty and disappointing to the poet.
“Of cities fill’d with the foolish,”
বোকা বোকা লোকে ভরা শহরগুলো আমাকে হতাশ করে।
Explanation:
The poet observes that cities are full of foolish people. He feels that many people waste their lives by doing meaningless things and following shallow desires. Instead of searching for truth, goodness and a meaningful purpose, they often remain busy with worldly matters. This makes the poet question the value of human life.
