Rag day দ্বারা বুঝানো হয় গরিবদের জন্য টাকা তোলা। বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের ছাত্ররা নির্দিষ্ট একটি দিনে গরিবদের জন্য টাকা তোলে। সেটাকে বলা হয় Rag day.
বিশেষত UK, এবং Ireland এ তারা Rag week পালন করে।
Rag means to raise and give away. It's a voluntary charity work in the form of fund-raising campaigns for the less privileged people.

অন্যদিকে বাঙালির কাছে Rag day মানে হলো লে পাগলু ডান্স, ডান্স... ডান্স......!
আমরা অনেকেই মনে করি শিক্ষাজীবনের শেষ দিন নোংরাভাবে উদযাপন করাটা rag day. সেদিন আমরা আমাদের পোশাকের উপর রঙিন কালার দিয়ে বাজে কথা সহ নানান আজেবাজে জিনিস লিখি।
আবার অনেকে মনে করে শিক্ষাজীবনে প্রতি বছরের শেষের দিনে উদযাপন করা হলো rag day. এই বিষয়টি স্কুল পর্যন্ত গড়িয়েছে। তারা নিচের ক্লাস থেকে যখন উপরের ক্লাসে উঠে তখন rag day-এর নামে বিভিন্ন Music চালিয়ে দিয়ে উদযাপন করে। রং মাখামাখি করে।
এক কথায় বাঙালির কাছে Rag day মানে হলো নোংরাভাবে আনন্দ ফূর্তি করা। Sound box লাগিয়ে গান বাজানো। পোশাকের উপর বাজে কথা লিখা। ছেলে মেয়ে এক সাথে dance করা।

Oxford Dictionary rag এর definition দিয়েছে,
An event or a series of events organized by students each year to raise money for charity.

ইংরেজি টার্ম না বুঝেই আমরা লাফালাফি করি!

আসসালামু আলাইকুম। সবার অবগতির জন্য জানানো যাচ্ছে যে ইউজিসির সিদ্ধান্ত মোতাবেক বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়গুলো অনলাইনেই ক্লাস চালু রাখাবে। এতে করে আমাদের ক্লাস এ সপ্তাহেই পুনরায় চালু হবে। সেপ্টেম্বরের মধ্যেই আমাদের প্রথম সেমিস্টারের সিলেবাস শেষ করা হবে। এর মধ্যে করোনা পরিস্থিতি স্বাভাবিক না হলে অক্টোবর থেকেই আমাদের দ্বিতীয় সেমিস্টারের ক্লাস শুরু হবে। এরপর যখন পরিস্থিতি একটু স্বাভাবিক হবে, তখন দুই সেমিস্টারের পরীক্ষা একসাথে নেওয়া হবে। ক্লাসের রুটিন তৈরি করে গ্রুপে জানিয়ে দেওয়া হবে। সবাই নিয়মিত গ্রুপের মেসেজ গুলো দেখবেন। সবার সুস্থতা কামনা করছি।
