We are delighted to share that Dr. Zannatul Mumtarin Moushumy, an ECRL alumnus, has joined the Department of Chemistry at the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) as a Lecturer.
She completed her BSc (2012 - 2015) and MSc (2015 - 2017) in Physical Chemistry from SUST, where she actively engaged in research at the Electrochemistry and Catalysis Research Lab (ECRL) under the valuable guidance of Professor Dr. Mohammad Abul Hasnat sir. This mentorship played a significant role in shaping her research journey.
She later earned her PhD in Advanced Industrial Science from Kumamoto University, Japan (2022 - 2025) with prestigious President Award, focusing on development of low-temperature efficient three-way catalysts by combining platinum group metals with 3d transition metals. Later on she joined at Kumamoto University, Japan as an Assistant Professor (April 2025 to March 2026).
Her journey from SUST to Kumamoto University to BUET reflects dedication, academic excellence, and continuous growth.
Heartiest congratulations and best wishes for her bright future ahead!

From April 26 to 30, 2026, we had the pleasure of hosting two enthusiastic students from Comilla University (CoU) at the Electrochemistry and Catalysis Research Laboratory (ECRL), Department of Chemistry, SUST.
During their visit, they gained hands-on experience in electrochemical characterization, with a special focus on the Hydrogen Evolution Reaction (HER), Oxygen Reduction Reaction (ORR), and sensor applications. It was a productive and engaging session filled with learning, discussions, and collaborative exploration.

We are happy to share that our latest research has been published in the prestigious 'International Journal of Hydrogen Energy' (Q1, Impact Factor: 8.3).
In this study, we introduce a novel approach to hydrogen generation through imidazole-assisted water splitting. For the first time, we demonstrate the feasibility of imidazole as a hydrogen source in the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER), using a cerium-doped titanium oxide composite catalyst. Our findings are supported by electrochemical experiments and computational studies.
