How to write:

1. Find the beginning of the diagram
2. Understand the different stages of the process
3. Find a way of organizing your description
4. The language of the description - it may be that the language you are given is the correct topic language & don’t copy language incorrectly.

Subject Verb Agreement:

Basic Rule-1: A singular subject (she, Karim, car) takes a singular verb (is, goes, run), whereas a plural subject takes a plural verb.
Example: The list of items is/are on the desk.

Rule 2: Two singular subjects connected by or, either/or, or neither/nor require a singular verb.
Examples:
- My aunt or my uncle is arriving by train today.
- Neither Hasan nor Salman is available.
- Either Sakib or Riad is helping today with stage decorations.

IELTS Writing Task-1: diagram is a tough part of Task-1. Student seems to dislike it. But if you able to practice it properly then you can do better on writing diagram.

IELTS Listening Tips:

1. Predict the topic – it helps you to listen if you know what kind of conversation is taking place so you can picture it in your head.

2. Predict the questions – you should also try and have an idea of what kind of information you are listening out for.

3. Underline key words – when you look through the questions first, particularly in the more difficult parts 3 and 4, underline key words (such as names, places and dates) in the question stems to help you hear the answer.

There are some basic guidelines for preparing IELTS.

1. For improving listening, students must watch English Movie/listen English songs.
2. For developing spelling – student should give extra attention while learning new words.
3. To excel in reading, pupils need to read English newspapers, magazines so that they can develop comprehension ability.
4. In case of writing, regular writing practice is needed. Plus, students have to have some good grammar knowledge.
5. Lastly to cover up the weakness in speaking (most students have) – They ought to speak & do speakers club.

How to write Task-2:

1. Question Analysis - you must first understand the question to know exactly what the examiner is looking for. One of the biggest mistakes students make is not answering the question properly. If you do not answer the question fully, you can’t score higher than a Band 5. For that you must first identify the question type, then identify the keywords in the question and finally identify the instructions words in order to find out what the examiner wants you to do with the question.

2. Planning - students who get the highest marks plan before they write. Planning helps you organize your ideas and structure before you write, saving you time and helping you write a clear essay.

3. Introduction - The introduction should tell the examiner what the rest of the essay is about and also answer the question directly.

4. Main Body Paragraphs - you give the examiner more details. You do this by stating your main points and supporting these with explanations and relevant examples.

5. Conclusion - here you provide a summary of what you have already said in the rest of the essay.

Writing task-1: Few do't must maintain-

- Don’t use the same words for percentages and numbers - for percentages use words like large/small/higher/lower percentage of… for numbers use words like many/more/most.

- Don’t give your opinion or speculate - only write exactly what you see and don’t try to give reasons for the data unless explicitly stated in the diagram.

- Don’t copy words from the question or information from the diagram

- Don’t overuse linking words.

Tips for IELTS Listening Map Labeling (continue from previous post)

4. Pay particular attention to things close by - for example, number 13 is by the ‘station’ so it is quite likely (though not definite) that this will be mentioned just before number 13.

5. Pay attention to any other clues in the map - for example, you are given a compass icon in the corner telling you where ‘North’, ‘South’, ‘East’ and ‘West’ are. This means it is likely that these phrases will be used to direct you. So listen out for them. You are also given your location - in the tower. (continue)

Tips for IELTS Listening Map Labeling:

1. Read the instructions carefully - this is so you know what you need to do and the maximum number of words and / or numbers you can use – in this case it is no more than two words.

2. Know the vocabulary of location - you need to know words commonly used to describe where things are located (see below).

3. Identify where the numbers start and finish – as you can see from the example, the first one (15) starts at the bottom, not the top. The numbers (15, 16, and 17) will follow the order of the listening. (Continue)

IELTS Reading Tips: List of Headings/ Headline matching-

• Read the instructions carefully.

• Make sure you know which paragraphs or sections you have to sum up.

• Then search through the bank of headings for the best answer.

• Make sure the heading you have chosen sums up the entire paragraph and not just one idea within it.

Accept: verb, meaning to receive willingly, to be happy to receive.

Example:
We are happy to accept your invitation to dinner.

Except: preposition, meaning 'with the exception of' or 'but'.
