6000 বছর ধরে এন্টার্কটিকায় ছিলো পৃথিবীর সবচেয়ে বড় ICE BURG, আয়তনে যেটি বাংলাদেশের তিন ভাগের এক ভাগ।

মাত্রাতিরিক্ত বৈশ্বিক উষ্ণায়নের ফলে ২০২১ সালে ছুটে যায় Antarctica-র বিশালাকার বরফখন্ড থেকে, এখানে প্রায় ৮ রকমের প্রাণী বসবাস করতো, ধারনা করা হয় এখানে প্রায় ১০/১৫হাজার এর চেয়েও বেশি POLAR BEAR এবং এক লাখ এর চেয়েও বেশি Penguin ছিলো।

২০২৩ সালেও A-74 এবং A-68a নামক দুটি বিশালাকার Ice Burg মুল অংশ থেকে ছুটে চলমান হয় এবং গলতে থাকে। এভাবে পৃথিবীর মেরুর বরফ গলতে থাকলে সমূদ্র পৃষ্ঠের উচ্চতা স্বাভাবিকের চেয়েও অনেক দ্রূত বাড়তে থাকবে যার ফলশ্রুতিতে সমূদ্র পৃষ্ঠ থেকে কম উচ্চতার দেশগুলো অস্তিত্ব সংকটে পড়বে।
