SUST Student Chapter of AIChE was established in 2021 under the Department of Chemical Engineering and Polymer Science, Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, Sylhet. AIChE is one of the prominent world leading organisations specially for Chemical Engineers and Professionals. SUST Student Chapter of AIChE, is founded by Department of Chemical Engineering and Polymer Science at Shahjalal

University of Science & Technology, Sylhet, Bangladesh

SUST Student Chapter of AIChE started its journey on 6 July 2021. The objective of Sust Student Chapter of AIChE is to put forward the networking opportunities in both academia and in industry along with increasing student involvement regionally and internationally for better outreach into the outward environment.

The SUST Student Chapter of AIChE successfully conducted Episode 1 of CareerSpark 2.0 titled “Process Safety: Concepts, Tools, and Industrial Practice.”

The session featured an insightful discussion on industrial process safety, practical tools, and real-world applications in high-risk process industries, enriched by valuable professional perspectives. We were honored to host Mohammad Hasan Mahmud Shanto, GP Operation Specialist, Chevron Bangladesh (Bibiyana Gas Plant), whose industry experience greatly contributed to the success of the session.

We are grateful for the guidance and presence of our Department Chair, Advisor respected faculty members.

This session will explore residual biomass gasification as a promising route to sustainable energy, with a focus on simulation-based process modeling, optimization techniques, and strategies for reducing carbon emissions. The discussion will integrate both theoretical foundations and practical applications relevant to modern energy and process industries.

We are honored to host Professor Dr. Mohammad Rakib Uddin, a distinguished faculty member of the Department of Chemical Engineering and Polymer Science (CEP), Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST). On this Victory Day, we stand in silent gratitude for the lives laid down so we could live in freedom and dignity. Their courage lives on in our identity, inspiring us to honor their legacy by striving for a just, peaceful, and prosperous Bangladesh.

On the occasion of Victory Day 2025, the SUST Student Chapter of AIChE paid heartfelt tribute and offered floral wreaths to the heroic sons of the nation.
