For the first time in the history of Faculty of Veterinary, Animal and Biomedical Sciences , SAU, two of our interns are going to a country other than India for a month-long internship. Ashik and Naima will be completing their internship in Indonesia.

A group of 101 members of Sylhet Agricultural University is going to visit the College of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry, R. K. Nagar, Tripura, India, for the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) Externship Tour 2026. Shri Rajesh Bhatia, Second Secretary (PIC & Education) from the Assistant High Commission of India, Sylhet, met with the students undertaking the tour.

সিলেট কৃষি বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের ১০১ জন সদস্যের একটি দল ডক্টর অফ ভেটেরিনারি মেডিসিন (ডিভিএম) এক্সটার্নশিপ ট্যুর ২০২৬-এর জন্য ভারতের ত্রিপুরার আর. কে. নগরে অবস্থিত ভেটেরিনারি সায়েন্সেস অ্যান্ড অ্যানিমেল হাজবেন্ড্রি কলেজ পরিদর্শনে যাচ্ছে। সিলেটে অবস্থিত ভারতীয় সহকারী হাইকমিশনের দ্বিতীয় সচিব (পিআইসি ও শিক্ষা) শ্রী রাজেশ ভাটিয়া এই সফরে অংশগ্রহণকারী শিক্ষার্থীদের সঙ্গে সাক্ষাৎ করেন।

সিকৃবিতে বিশ্ব ভেটেরিনারি দিবস পালিত

সিলেট কৃষি বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে (সিকৃবি) নানা আয়োজনের মধ্য দিয়ে বিশ্ব ভেটেরিনারি দিবস ২০২৬ পালিত হয়েছে। ৩০ এপ্রিল (বৃহস্পতিবার) বিশ্ব ভেটেরিনারি দিবস উদযাপন উপলক্ষে বর্ণাঢ্য র‌্যালি ও কেক কাটার আয়োজন করা হয়। সিকৃবি ভিসি প্রফেসর ড. মোঃ আলিমুল ইসলামের নেতৃত্বে র‌্যালিটি সমস্ত ক্যাম্পাস প্রদক্ষিণ শেষে কেন্দ্রীয় অডিটোরিয়ামে এসে শেষ হয়। র‌্যালিতে বিভিন্ন অনুষদীয় ডিন, দপ্তর প্রধান, হল প্রভোস্টসহ, শিক্ষক, কর্মকর্তা, কর্মচারী এবং শিক্ষার্থীবৃন্দ অংশগ্রহণ করেন। শিক্ষার্থীরা বিভিন্ন ধরনের স্লোগান সম্বলিত প্ল্যাকার্ড, ব্যানার ও ফেস্টুন নিয়ে র‌্যালিতে অংশ নেন ।

র‌্যালি শেষে বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের ভেটেরিনারি, এনিমেল ও বায়োমেডিক্যাল সায়েন্সেস অনুষদের উদ্যোগে এবং কাজী ফার্মস, আস্থা ফিড ইন্ডাস্ট্রিজ লিমিটেড, ডক্টরস এগ্রোভেট লিমিটেড, ইনসেপ্টা ফার্মাসিউটিক্যালস লিমিটেড ও একমি ল্যাবরেটরিজ লিমিটেডের সহযোগিতায় দিবসটির প্রতিপাদ্য বিষয় নিয়ে কেন্দ্রীয় অডিটোরিয়ামে আলোচনা সভা অনুষ্ঠিত হয়।

বিশ্ব ভেটেরিনারি দিবস ২০২৬ উদযাপন কমিটির আহবায়ক প্রফেসর ড. মোঃ মুক্তার হোসেনের সভাপতিত্বে আলোচনা সভায় প্রধান অতিথি হিসেবে উপস্থিত ছিলেন সিকৃবি’র ভিসি প্রফেসর ড. মোঃ আলিমুল ইসলাম। বিশেষ অতিথি হিসেবে উপস্থিত ছিলেন ট্রেজারার প্রফেসর ড. এ.টি.এম. মাহবুব-ই-ইলাহী, ভেটেরিনারি, এনিম্যাল ও বায়োমেডিক্যাল সায়েন্সেস অনুষদের ডিন প্রফেসর ড. এ. এস. এম. মাহবুব, ছাত্র পরামর্শ ও নির্দেশনা দপ্তরের পরিচালক প্রফেসর ড. জসিম উদ্দিন আহাম্মদ এবং সিলেট বিভাগীয় প্রাণিসম্পদ দপ্তরের পরিচালক ড. আবু জাফর মোঃ ফেরদৌস। আলোচনা সভায় মুল প্রবন্ধ উপস্থাপন করেন প্রাণিসম্পদ অধিদপ্তরের প্রাক্তন পরিচালক ও বাংলাদেশ ভেটেরিনারি এসোসিয়েশনের আহবায়ক ডাঃ সফিউল আহাদ সরদার।

অনুষ্ঠানে প্রধান অতিথির বক্তব্যে সিকৃবি ভিসি প্রফেসর ড. মোঃ আলিমুল ইসলাম বলেন, ভেটেরিনারিয়ানরা নিঃসন্দেহে আমাদের সমাজের নীরব অভিভাবক। তারা শুধু প্রাণীর চিকিৎসক নন বরং নিরাপদ খাদ্য উৎপাদন, রোগ প্রতিরোধ, জনস্বাস্থ্য সুরক্ষা এবং টেকসই কৃষি ব্যবস্থার অন্যতম চালিকাশক্তি। খামার থেকে খাবারের টেবিল পর্যন্ত প্রতিটি ধাপে তাদের অবদান অনস্বীকার্য। আজকের বিশ্বে জুনোটিক রোগ, খাদ্য নিরাপত্তা সংকট এবং পরিবেশগত চ্যালেঞ্জের প্রেক্ষাপটে ভেটেরিনারি পেশার গুরুত্ব আরও বহুগুণে বৃদ্ধি পেয়েছে। তিনি আরও বলেন, একটি সুস্থ জাতি গঠনে নিরাপদ খাদ্য ও সুস্থ প্রাণিসম্পদের কোনো বিকল্প নেই। আর এই গুরুত্বপূর্ণ দায়িত্ব পালন করছেন আমাদের ভেটেরিনারিয়ানগণ অত্যন্ত নিষ্ঠা, দক্ষতা ও মানবিকতা দিয়ে। সিলেট কৃষি বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় দক্ষ ও মানবিক পেশাজীবী গড়ে তুলতে কাজ করছে, যারা দেশের প্রাণিসম্পদ খাতের উন্নয়ন, খাদ্য নিরাপত্তা নিশ্চিতকরণ এবং জনস্বাস্থ্য রক্ষায় কার্যকর ভূমিকা রাখতে সক্ষম হবে।

অনুষ্ঠানে বক্তারা ভেটেরিনারি চিকিৎসা, গবেষণা ও প্রযুক্তিগত সক্ষমতা বৃদ্ধির ওপর গুরুত্বারোপ করেন। তারা বলেন, বিশ্ব ভেটেরিনারি দিবস পালনের প্রধান উদ্দেশ্য হলো প্রাণীর স্বাস্থ্য ও কল্যাণ নিশ্চিত করা, জনসচেতনতা বৃদ্ধি এবং ভেটেরিনারিয়ানদের অবদানের যথাযথ স্বীকৃতি প্রদান।

Today (April 30), World Veterinary Day is being celebrated in a festive atmosphere at Sylhet Agricultural University. The theme of this year's Veterinary Day is "Veterinarians: Guardians of Food and Health".

Announcement

On the occasion of World Veterinary Day 2026, FVABS, Sylhet Agricultural University organized a Project-Based Competition on “Innovative Entrepreneurial Projects for Future Veterinary Careers in Bangladesh.”

A total of 21 project ideas were submitted. After careful evaluation by the evaluation committee, the following three groups have been selected for the final presentation:

*Innovation Studio
*Vet Guard
*Smart Vet Nexus

Congratulations to the selected groups! The final presentation will be held on 30 April 2026 during the World Veterinary Day program.
