Prof. Dr. Swapan Kumar Palit has joined the Department of Civil Engineering at International Islamic University Chittagong as a Professor. With a rich and distinguished teaching career spanning nearly 40 years, Prof. Dr. Swapan Kumar Palit joined the Department of Civil Engineering at Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET) in 1987. In 2004 he was appointed as a Professor in the same department.

Prof. Dr. Palit completed his M.Sc. in Civil Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in 1993 and earned his Ph.D. from the same institution in 2001. He earned his B.Sc. in Civil Engineering from Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology in 1985.

Prof. Dr. Palit has published many research papers in reputed journals. He has also supervised and reviewed numerous thesis and research works at both Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels. 🎓 A Warm Welcome to the Autumn 2026 Freshers!

The Freshers' Reception & Orientation Programme – Autumn 2026 of the Department of Civil Engineering, IIUC was successfully held with enthusiasm and excitement.

The programme marked the beginning of an exciting new journey for our newest members of the Civil Engineering family.

The event was graced by the presence of our Chief Guest, Prof. Engr. Md. Razu Ahmed, Dean, Faculty of Science & Engineering (FSE), along with Chairman Md. Abul Hasan, respected faculty members of the Department of Civil Engineering, and dedicated members of the Civil Engineering Club – IIUC.

A special acknowledgment goes to Chairman Sir, Md. Abul Hasan, for his valuable guidance and continuous support in guiding and overseeing the entire programme, which contributed greatly to its successful ex*****on.

We were also privileged to have Mr. Amir Foysal, faculty member of the Department of Civil Engineering, who shared valuable career guidance and insights, inspiring the freshers to prepare themselves for a successful future in the field of Civil Engineering.

The programme was filled with inspiring words, valuable guidance, meaningful interactions, and a warm welcome for the Autumn 2026 batch.

Farewell Reception Held in Honour of Two Faculty Members at IIUC's Department of Civil Engineering

The Department of Civil Engineering at the International Islamic University Chittagong (IIUC) hosted a farewell reception on 28 July 2026 at the Departmental Conference Room, honouring two distinguished faculty members: Prof. Dr. Engr. Muhammad Abu Eusuf, P. Eng, Professor and Founder Chairman of the department, and Mr. Shoeb Ahmad Tanim, Lecturer.

The programme opened with a recitation from the Holy Qur'an, chaired by Engr. Md. Abul Hasan, Chairman and Assistant Professor of the department, and conducted by Mohammed Zakaria, Senior Assistant Director. Prof. Eusuf attended as Chief Guest, while Mr. Tanim was present as Special Guest.

Colleagues, laboratory technicians, and CE Club representative shared fond memories of the two educators, praising their lasting contributions and wishing them success ahead, while hoping they would continue guiding the department in the future.

In their farewell remarks, the honoured teachers reflected warmly on their years with the department and pledged continued support for its growth. The programme concluded with a presidential address by Engr. Md. Abul Hasan, who commended their remarkable contributions and wished them well in their future endeavours.

Today, the souvenir distribution ceremony for the participants of Exploring Sylhet: CE Club Study Tour 2026 was successfully held at the Department Seminar Room in the presence of the Tour Management Committee and Civil Engineering Club members.

The souvenirs symbolize the shared experiences, learning opportunities, friendships, and unforgettable moments created throughout the tour. We sincerely thank every participant and every member who contributed their time and effort to make this study tour a remarkable success.
