The list of happiest countries in the world has been published recently. In the report titled 'World Happiness Report 2024', Bangladesh is ranked 129th among 143 countries in the world's happiest list. Finland has topped the list for 7 consecutive years. Besides, the top 10 in this list are Denmark, Iceland, Sweden, Israel, Netherlands, Norway, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Australia.
Kuwait has the best position among Asian countries (13). Also on the list are United Arab Emirates (22), Saudi Arabia (28), Singapore (30), Taiwan (31), Japan (51), South Korea (52), Philippines (53), Thailand (58), Malaysia (59). , China (60) and Bahrain (62).
Among the neighboring countries, Nepal (93), Pakistan (108), India (126), Myanmar (118) and Sri Lanka (128) are on the list. Afghanistan is at the bottom of the list (143). One step above it is Lebanon (142).
The report examines 6 indicators to determine the happiest countries. These indicators are - gross domestic product (GDP) per capita, social support, healthy life expectancy, freedom to make different decisions in life, generosity, attitude towards corruption and dystopia.
A dystopia is a fictional country where the world's unhappiest people live—that is, no country can be worse off than a dystopia on these 6 indicators. It is mainly used as a benchmark. That is, the points obtained from the index are calculated in comparison to how much better off other countries are than this dystopia.
