Almost all cases of acute diarrhoea (except cholera) are viral origin, so we should not use antibiotics unnecessarily, only maintain fluid balance. In these cases antibiotics will lead to disbiosis causing complications like candidiasis, crytosporiodiosis etc. Rarely, if there is a confusion we can use single dose antibiotics like azithromycin, ciprofloxacin etc.
