কিভাবে কাওকে কোন বিষয়ে তথ্যের জন্য জিজ্ঞাসা করতে হয় ইংরেজি ভাষায়? Spoken English এ এই Phrases গুলো ব্যবহার করা হয় সেই প্রশ্ন বাক্যের মধ্যে:
• Would you please…?
• Would you mind…?
• I wonder if you could…?
• What do you know about…?
• Do you have…?

Examples:
• Would you please give me all the information you have?
• Would you mind informing me of the effects?
• I wonder if you could hand me the fact sheet on the recent flood.
• What do you know about his background?
• Do you have any information on the Jamuna Bridge?

Affirmative Sentence হতে Negative Sentence এ পরিবর্তন করার নিয়ম:
Both…and (উভয়ে) -------- Not only…but also (শুধু এটাই নয়…ওটাও)
Example:
Affirmative: Both Rony and your brother broke the tree last night.
Negative: Not only Rony but also your brother broke the tree last night.

ব্যখাঃ এখানে তোমাকে ‘not only’ এবং ‘but also’ এর অবস্থান খেয়াল করতে হবে। যদি not only’ বাক্যে subject এর পূর্বে বসে তবে ‘but also’ subject এর পূর্বে বসবে এবং একই নিয়ম verb ও object এর বেলায়। এককথায় তোমাকে ‘not only’ এবং ‘but also’ এর ক্ষেত্রে সম অবস্থান অনুসরন করতে হবে।

বাইরে (Eating Out) খাবার খেতে যাওয়ার স্থানে যে শব্দগুলো ব্যবহার করতে হয়:

• যে স্থানে অনেক সময় ধরে অবস্থান করি এবং পুরনাঙ্গ খাবার খেয়ে থাকি তা হল ‘Restaurant’
• আমরা যে স্থানে অল্প সময়ের জন্য যায় যেকোনো পানীয় কিছু যেমন কফি, চা পান করতে তা হল ‘Café’
• পানীয় জাতীও খাবারের তালিকা কে Drinks menu বলা হয়।
• খাবার খাওয়ার জন্য চামচ বা ছুরিকে Cutlery বলা হয়।
• খাবার খাওয়ার সময় মুখ বা হাত মোছার জন্য যে কাপড় বা ভাঁজ করা কাগজ ব্যবহার করা হয় তাকে Napkin বলা হয়।
• যে খাবারে কোন মাংস বা মাছ থাকেনা, শুধু শাঁক সবজি থাকে তাকে Vegetarian option বলা হয়।
• মূল খাবারের শুরুতে যে খাবার দিয়ে শুরু করা হয় তাকে Starter বলা হয়।
• খাবারের মূল অংশকে Main course বলা হয়।
• মূল খাবারের বাইরে অতিরিক্ত যে খাবার নেওয়া হয় তাকে Side dish বলা হয়।
• খাবার শেষে যেকোনো হালকা খাবার যেমন আইসক্রিম বা কেক নেওয়া হলে তাকে Dessert বলা হয়।
• খাবার যে পরিবেশন করে তাকে বিলের বাইরে বকশিস হিসেবে কিছু দিলে তাকে Tip বলা হয়।

Positive থেকে Comparative Degree পরিবর্তনের সূত্রঃ
(As soon as…..........No sooner had…than)
Example:
Positive: As soon as the man came, I left the room.
Comparative: No sooner had the man come than I left the room.

Explanation: এখানে তোমাকে শুধু “as soon as” অংশটিকে “No sooner had” এ পরিবর্তন করতে হবে এবং “(,)” কমাটিকে “than” এ পরিবর্তন করতে হবে positive হতে comparative করার সময়। এখানে তোমাকে adjective এর কোন পরিবর্তন করতে হবেনা এবং subject বা object স্থানের কোন পরিবর্তন ঘটবেনা।

Open-Ended questions বা Essay type question হচ্ছে একটি অনুচ্ছেদ এর উপর নির্ভর করে কিছু প্রশ্ন যা সংক্ষিপ্ত আকারে সঠিক উত্তর দিতে হবে যে অনুচ্ছেদ টি দেওয়া আছে তার অর্থ অনুসারে। তোমাকে এই short question এর উত্তর করার প্রক্রিয়া সুমুহ জানতে হবে পরীক্ষায় ভালো নম্বর পেতে।
