The Department of Economics, Varendra University successfully concluded the seminar on “Role of Bangladesh Bank in Financial Management and Economic Development” yesterday through an engaging and insightful Closing Session.

The session was graced by the valuable closing remarks of Prof. Dr. Md. Elias Hossain, Coordinator, Department of Economics, Varendra University, who highlighted the significance of financial governance and the role of academic engagement in understanding contemporary economic issues.

Prior to the closing speech, Prof. Md. Shahidur Rahman, Dean, Faculty of Arts and Social Science, delivered an inspiring speech emphasizing the importance of collaboration between academia and financial institutions for sustainable economic development.

An interactive Q&A session with the keynote speaker, Md. Amzad Hossain Khan, Executive Director (Grade-1), Bangladesh Bank, Rajshahi, added great value to the programme by creating an opportunity for students and participants to engage in insightful discussions. As a gesture of appreciation, he was also presented with gifts by the Department of Economics.

The Department expresses its sincere gratitude to all distinguished guests, faculty members, students, and participants for making the event successful. The Department of Economics also looks forward to organizing more such academic and knowledge-sharing programmes in the future.

The Department of Economics, Varendra University, is going to organize a seminar on ‘Role of Bangladesh Bank in Financial Management and Economic Development’. The seminar will be held on Monday, May 18, 2026 at 11:00 AM at the University Auditorium. Professor Dr. Md. Khademul Islam Molla, Honorable Vice-Chancellor of Varendra University, has kindly consented to attend the Seminar as the Chief Guest. The Seminar will be presented by Md. বরেন্দ্র বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের অর্থনীতি বিভাগের ক্রিকেট টুর্নামেন্টের ফাইনাল খেলা গতকাল ২৩ এপ্রিল বিকাল ৩ টায় বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় খেলার মাঠে অনুষ্ঠিত হয়।

প্রথম ইনিংসে নির্ধারিত ১৫ ওভারের খেলায় টিম রিকার্ডো রয়েলস্ ১৩৮ রান সংগ্রহ করে। ১৩৯ রানের টার্গেটে ব্যাট করে টিম স্মিথ স্ট্রাইকার্স ১২ ওভারেরই তাদের কাঙ্ক্ষিত জয় অর্জন করে।

গত ২১ এপ্রিল২০২৬, টুর্নামেন্টের উদ্বোধন করেন অর্থনীতি বিভাগের কো-অর্ডিনেটর প্রফেসর ড. মো. ইলিয়াছ হোসেন। প্রখ্যাত অর্থনীতিবিদদের নামের সাথে মিল রেখে চারটি টিম গঠন করা হয়। নামগুলো হলো- স্মিথ স্ট্রাইকার্স, রিকার্ডো রয়েলস্, কেইনসিয়ান নাইটস্ ও ফ্রীডম্যান ফাইটার্স।

খেলা শেষে বিজয়ী ও রানার-আপ দলের খেলোয়াড়দের মধ্যে পুরস্কার বিতরণ করা হয়। পুরস্কার বিতরণী অনুষ্ঠানে উপস্থিত ছিলেন বিভাগের কো-অর্ডিনেটর প্রফেসর ড. মো. ইলিয়াছ হোসেন, সহযোগী অধ্যাপক মো. আতাউল গণি ওসমানী, ক্রিকেট টুর্নামেন্ট কনভেনর সহকারী অধ্যাপক মো. রাকিবুল ইসলাম এবং বিভাগের অন্যান্য শিক্ষক ও শিক্ষার্থীরা।
