You might have heard that babies should hit every milestone on a strict timeline. Here's what we actually see: development is beautifully individual, and normal variation is wide! 👶
Every baby has their own pace. Some crawl early, others skip it entirely and go straight to walking. Some babble constantly at 6 months, others are quieter observers. These differences don't predict future abilities.
What matters most? Knowing what to genuinely watch for. We look for patterns of progress, not perfection. Is your baby engaging with their world? Are they building new skills over weeks and months? That's what counts.
When something does warrant attention, early support makes a real difference. The key is knowing the difference between normal variation and something worth exploring with a professional.
We've put together a complete guide to help you feel confident about what's normal, what to watch, and when to reach out. You've got this 💙

Ever wondered if your 18 month old is on track? You are not alone in asking this question 💭
At 18 months, development looks different for every child, and that is completely normal. You might notice your toddler saying 10-50 words, climbing stairs with help, or showing interest in other children. Some children are chatty while others are quietly observing and learning. Both are valid developmental paths.
Here's what matters: watching your child's unique pattern of growth. Are they engaging with you? Are they trying new movements? Are they curious about their world? These signs tell you so much more than hitting exact milestones on a specific date 🌱
If you have gentle concerns about communication, movement, or social connection, talking to a professional can give you clarity and confidence. There is no rush, but there is real value in early support when you need it.

Picture this: Your newborn tracks a light across their face, and you wonder if that's 'normal.' Then you scroll through a milestone checklist and feel that familiar parent anxiety creeping in 😅
Here's what we want you to know: every baby develops at their own pace, and understanding what typically happens week by week helps you feel confident, not anxious.
In the first weeks, your baby is learning to regulate their body (hello, sleep cycles!), track movement with their eyes, and respond to your voice. By week 8, you might notice stronger head control and the beginning of those magical social smiles. These aren't rigid checkpoints—they're windows of typical development.
The real magic? Creating an environment that supports their natural unfolding. Through the Environment Method, we know that the spaces and interactions you create matter deeply to how your baby develops. You're not 'training' milestones; you're nurturing them naturally 💙

You might have heard that autism is obvious from birth, or that you'd definitely know by age 2. Here's what we actually see: autism diagnosis in toddlers is nuanced, and many children aren't identified until later because signs show up differently in different kids. 🧠
A pediatric OT or developmental specialist looks at communication patterns, social interaction, sensory responses, and play behaviors. There's no single "autism test" – it's about piecing together how your child engages with their world.
If you've noticed differences in how your toddler plays, communicates, or responds to their environment, you can ask for a developmental screening. Early conversation with professionals isn't about labels – it's about understanding your child and accessing support that helps them thrive. 💙

Most parents don't realize that a simple glance between you and your baby is actually rewiring their brain right now.
We often focus on big milestones, but the everyday moments are where real development happens. Eye contact, the way you respond to their touch, even the texture of what they're holding, these aren't just nice extras. They're building blocks for how your baby learns, connects, and grows.
The beautiful part? You're likely already doing these things. You're already the expert in your baby's world. What changes when you understand the power behind these simple moments is the confidence you feel about your parenting.
Our new guide walks you through the lesser-known things that boost development, so you can feel even more intentional about the incredible work you're already doing.

Ever catch yourself comparing your baby's development to every other baby you know? You are not alone. 🤔
Parent worry about milestones is real, but here's what I want you to know: developmental ranges are actually WIDE. A baby rolling at 4 months and another at 7 months? Both completely typical. The anxiety often comes from seeing milestone checklists as rigid timelines rather than flexible ranges based on each child's unique sensory needs, temperament, and environment.
What matters more than hitting milestones "on time" is noticing whether your baby is progressing, exploring their world, and engaging with you. Small, consistent changes over weeks and months? That's the real indicator. 💚
When should you actually reach out to your pediatrician? When you see a plateau in skills over several months, not a slight delay. Trust your instincts, but also trust the flexibility of child development.

Picture this: You're at a playdate and another baby is crawling while yours is still scooting on their bottom. Your stomach drops. Is yours behind? 😰
Then comes the spiral: checking developmental charts, googling frantically, wondering if you're doing something wrong.
Here's what I want you to know as a pediatric OT: milestone anxiety is real, and it's so common. But developmental timelines are wide ranges, not deadlines. Every baby's nervous system develops at its own pace. What matters more than hitting a specific age is the quality of movement and exploration your baby shows.
Instead of comparing to charts tonight, ask yourself: Is my baby curious? Are they problem-solving? Can they move in ways that feel purposeful? These are the signs that development is happening, even if it looks different from the baby next to you. 💙
You're doing better than you think.
