র বলা হয়। দাশুড়িয়াবাসীর লালিত স্বপ্ন দাশুড়িয়া ডিগ্রী কলেজের গোড়া পত্তন হয় ১৯৮৯ ইং সনে । বঙ্গবন্ধু সেতু নির্মানের পূর্বে রাজধানী ঢাকার সঙ্গে গোটা উত্তরাঞ্চল এবং দক্ষিণ – পশ্চিমের কিছু অংশের যোগাযোগের একমাত্র পথ ছিল দাশুড়িয়া । দাশুড়িয়াবাসীর লালিত স্বপ্ন দাশুড়িয়া ডিগ্রী কলেজের গোড়া পত্তন হয় ১৯৮৯ ইং সনে । তবে বঙ্গবন্ধু সেতু নির্মাণের ফলে দাশুড়িয়ার গুরুত্ব সাময়িকভাবে কমে গেলেও লালনশাহ সেতু নির্মানের ফলে তার অভাব অনেকাংশে পুরণ হয়েছে। ভৌগলিক গুরুত্ব অনুসারে বলতে গেলে দাশুড়িয়ার তেমন কোন উন্নয়নই হয়নি। শিক্ষা-দিক্ষাসহ সকল ক্ষেত্রে এই জনপদ অনেক পিছিয়ে রয়েছে। দাশুড়িয়াবাসীর লালিত স্বপ্ন দাশুড়িয়া ডিগ্রী কলেজের গোড়া পত্তন হয় ১৯৮৯ ইং সনে । যদিও এলাকার শিক্ষার উন্নয়ন ও বিস্তারে আরও পূর্বেই এখানে একটি কলেজ প্রতিষ্ঠার প্রয়োজন ছিল কিন্তু যোগ্য লোক ও নেতৃত্বের¡ অভাবে তা হয়নি। যদি হতো তাহলে দাশুড়িয়ার ইতিহাস অন্যভাবে লেখা হতো এবং দাশুড়িয়া আরও অনেক সামনের দিকে এগিয়ে যেতো এতে কোন সন্দেহ নেই।

আলোকিত দাশুড়িয়া গড়ার লক্ষে দাশুড়িয়ার প্রাণ পুরুষ প্রয়াত বীর মুক্তিযোদ্ধা আঃ হামিদ জিন্নাহ কলেজ প্রতিষ্ঠার স্বপ্ন দেখেন এবং তা বাস্তবায়নের জন্য তিনি সমমনা ব্যক্তিসহ সর্ব শ্রেণীর মানুষকে তার নিজস্ব মোহিনী শক্তি বলে সংগঠিত করে কলেজ প্রতিষ্ঠার কাজে হাত দেন। বর্তমান অধ্যক্ষ জনাব মোঃ আব্দুল কাদের তখন অন্যত্র চাকুরীরত। তার এই মহৎ উদ্যোগকে স্বাগত জানিয়ে তিনি চাকুরীতে ইস্তফা দিয়ে কলেজ প্রতিষ্ঠার কাজে আত্মনিয়োগ করেন। ১৯৮৯ ইং সনের ৭ জুলাই কলেজ প্রতিষ্ঠা কল্পে ঘরোয়া সভা এবং ২০ জুলাই বর্তমান কলেজ মাঠে সর্বস্তরের জনগনকে নিয়ে সভা আহবান করা হয়। সেখানে গঠন করা হয় দাশুড়িয়া কলেজ বাস্তবায়ন পরিষদ। এরপর ৩০/০৭/১৯৮৯ইং তারিখের বাস্তবায়ন পরিষদের সভায় বর্তমান অধ্যক্ষের উপর অর্পিত হয় কলেজ প্রতিষ্ঠার গুরু দায়িত্ব। কলেজ প্রতিষ্ঠাকালে দাশুড়িয়া এবং আশে পাশের জনপদের বিভিন্ন পেশা ও শ্রেনীর মানুষ যেমনি প্রাণ উজার করে বিভিন্ন ভাবে সহায়তা করেছে, তেমনি এক শ্রেনীর কপমুন্ডক,পরশ্রীকাতর মানুষ কোন কারণ ছ্ড়াাই শুধুমাত্র বিরোধীতার জন্য বিরোধীতাও করেছে। তবে সদিচ্ছা, ধৈর্য্য এবং প্রত্যয়ের কাছে সকল বাধা বিপত্তি বিপুলভাবে পরাস্ত হয়েছে। আর ইতিহাস তাই বলে যারা ভাল কাজ করে তাদের সঙ্গে থাকে আল্লাহ পাকের অসীম সাহায্য, কৃপা ও রহমত। দাশুড়িয়ার ব্যবসায়ী মহল কলেজ প্রতিষ্ঠায় অকৃপনভাবে সহায়তা করেছে। তবে যে কথা না বললেই নয় যদি প্রয়াত আঃ জিন্নাহর মত অকুতভয় , লৌহ মানব এবং প্রতিষ্ঠাতা অধ্যক্ষ জনাব আঃ কাদের এর এর মত ধৈর্য্যশীল ও আত্ম প্রত্যয়ী মানুষ না থাকতো তাহলে সকল বাধা অতিক্রম করে কলেজ প্রতিষ্ঠা করা কষ্ট, দঃুসাধ্য ও বিলম্বিত হতো। ১৯৮৯ ইং সনে প্রতিষ্ঠার কাজ শুরু হলেও ১৯৯০ইং সনে মানবিক ও ব্যবসায় শিক্ষা বিভাগে প্রথম ছাত্র-ছ্াত্রী ভর্তি করা হয় । ক্রয়কৃত নিজস্ব জমিতে পঁয়তাল্লিশ ফুট লম্বা তিন কক্ষ বিশিষ্ট একটি দোচালা টিনের ঘর নিয়ে কলেজের কার্যক্রম শুরু হয়। ১৯৯০ ইং সালে ছাত্র-ছাত্রী ভর্তির কার্যক্রম শুরু করার এক সপ্তাহের মধ্যেই কলেজে আগমন করেন, ঈশ্বরদীর কৃতি সন্তান রূপপুর গ্রামের শিক্ষা বোর্ডের তৎকালীন মাননীয় চেয়ারম্যান বিশিষ্ট শিক্ষাবিদ জনাব প্রফেসর ডঃ মোঃ আবুল কাশেম। ১৯৯২ ইং সনে কলেজ হতে প্রথম ব্যাচে ২৫ জন ছাত্র-ছত্রী বিশেষ প্রাইভেট পরীক্ষার্থী হিসাবে চুড়ান্ত পরীক্ষায় অংশ গ্রহণ করে। ১৯৯১-১৯৯২ ইং শিক্ষাবর্ষে কলেজটি শিক্ষাবোর্ডের স্বীকৃতি লাভ করে এবং ১৯৯৪ ইং সনে এম,পি,ও ভূক্ত হয়। কলেজের স্বীকৃতি ও এমপিও ভুক্তিতে যিনি গুরুত্বপুর্ণ ভূমিকা পালন করেন তিনি হলেন পাবনার কৃতি সন্তান অধ্যক্ষের শ্রদ্ধাভাজন শ্বশড়ের মামাতো বোন শিক্ষা মন্ত্রণালয়ের তৎকালীন অতিরিক্ত সচিব বেগম খোদেজা আজম। তিনি ১৯৯৩ ইং সনের শেষ দিকে শিক্ষা মন্ত্রণালয়ে যোগদানের পর কলেজ প্রতিষ্ঠার কার্যক্রম ত্বরান্বিত হয় এবং আমাবস্যার অন্ধকার ক্রমান্বয়ে দুরীভূত হয়। তাঁর স্মৃতিকে ধরে রাখার জন্য তার নামে কলেজের প্রশাসনিক ভবনের নামকরন করা হয়েছে বেগম খোদেজা আজম ভবন। এই মহিয়সী নারীর অবদান দাশুড়িয়া বাসীর কোন দিনই ভুলার সূযোগ নেই।

কলেজের সভাপতি হিসাবে বিভিন্ন সময়ে রাজনৈতিক ব্যক্তিবর্গ/ সরকারী কর্মকর্তারা দায়িত্ব পালন করেছেন তাদের মধ্যে, কলেজ প্রতিষ্ঠা লগ্নে সভাপতি ছিলেন তৎকালীন পাবনা-৪ আসনের মাননীয় সংসদ সদস্য জনাব মঞ্জুর রহমান বিশ্বাস। তিনি তার সময়কালে কলেজ প্রতিষ্ঠায় সর্বোতভাবে সহায়তা করেন। ১৯৯১ ইং সনে সভাপতির দায়িত্ব নেন তৎকালীন উপজেলা নির্বাহী অফিসার, ঈশ্বরদী এবং বর্তমান প্রতœতত্ব অধিদপ্তরের মহাপরিচালক (যুগ্ম সচিব) জনাব মোঃ সফিকুল ইসলাম। কলেজ প্রতিষ্ঠায় তার সহযোগীতা ও আন্তরিকতা ছিল তুলনাবিহীন। তিনি কলেজের জন্য তার পক্ষে যতটুকু করা সম্ভব ছিল তার কোনটুকুই বাদ দেননি। জনাব মোঃ সিরাজুল ইসলাম সরদার সাবেক সংসদ সদস্য, পাবনা-৪ (১৯৯২-১৯৯৬)। তার মেয়াদকালে নব প্রতিষ্ঠিত কলেজের প্রভূত উন্নতি হয়। বর্তমান সংসদ সদস্য (২০১০ ইং) বীরমুক্ত যোদ্ধা জনাব শামসুর রহমান শরীফ ১৯৯৬-২০০১ইং সময়ে কলেজের সভাপতি ছিলেন তার সময়ে সরকারী ব্যয়ে কলেজের ত্রিতল ভবন নির্মানণ করা হয় ও স্নাতক কোর্স চালু হয়, তার অবদানের কথা দাশুড়িয়াবাসী ভুলবে না। ১৯৯৪ ইং সনে কলেজটি সরকারী অনুদান লাভ করে ঐ বছরেই বিজ্ঞান শাখা খোলা হয়। ১৯৯৮ ইং স্নাতক কোর্স চালু করা হয় । কারিগরি শিক্ষার উন্নয়ন ও প্রসারের লক্ষে এখানে ২০০৩ সনে কারিগরি বোর্ডের অধীনে এইচ,এস,সি(বি-এম) কোর্স চালু করা হয়। সর্বক্ষেত্রে কলেজের ফলাফল অত্যন্ত ভালো। কলেজটি ধুমপান ও রাজনীতিমুক্ত, এখানে দেয়ালে নেই কোন পোষ্টার, নাই কোন দেয়াল লিখন। সারা দেশের শিক্ষা প্রতিষ্ঠানগুলির চেয়ে এর চিত্র আলাদা। এখানে বিরাজ করছে শিক্ষা বান্ধব, শান্তিময় কোলাহলমুক্ত অনাবিল পরিবেশ। এখন শুধু সামনে এগিয়ে যাওয়ার পালা। অনেক চড়াই উৎড়াই পার হয়ে আজকের এই অবস্থানে আসতে হয়েছে। একটি ছোট টিনের ঘর নিয়ে যাত্রা শুরু করে আজ মাথা উচুঁ করে দাঁড়িয়ে আছে একটি বিশাল ত্রিতল, দুটি দ্বিতল ও একটি সেমিপাকা ভবন, সুদৃশ্য শহীদ মিনার, কলেজের প্রবেশ মুখেই দৃষ্টি নন্দন গেট, সুবিস্তৃত খেলার মাঠ। রয়েছে উন্নত মানের বিজ্ঞান ও কম্পিউটার ল্যাব এবং সুসম্বৃদ্ধ লাইব্রেরী । দাশুড়িয়া কলেজ লেখা পড়ার পরিবেশ বান্ধব একটি প্রতিষ্ঠান, লেখাপড়ার সকল সুযোগ সুবিধাই এখানে বিদ্যমান। গরীব ও মেধাবী ছাত্র-ছাত্রীদের জন্য রয়েছে বিশেষ সুযোগ সুবিধা।

কলেজ প্রতিষ্ঠায় প্রতিষ্ঠাতা অধ্যক্ষ জনাব মোঃ আব্দুল কাদের এর রয়েছে অসামান্য অবদান। তার সন্তানতুল্য স্নেহে কলেজটি তিলে তিলে গড়ে উঠেছে। তার নিরলস প্রচেষ্টা, অক্লান্ত পরিশ্রম গতিশীল কার্যক্রম উত্তরোত্তর কলেজটি উন্নয়নের দিকে এগিয়ে যাচ্ছে।
ইতিমধ্যেই কলেজটি অবকাঠামো ,শিক্ষার্থী ও ফলাফলের বিবিচনায় জেলার বেসরকারী কলেজগুলির মধ্যে প্রথম সারিতে স্থান করে নিয়েছে। মাত্র হাতে গোনা ক-জন ছাত্র-ছাত্রী নিয়ে শুরু করে আজকে ছাত্র-ছাত্রীর সংখ্যা প্রায় দেড় হাজার। বর্তমানে ইহা একটি মডেল প্রতিষ্ঠান হিসাবে পরিগণিত হয়েছে।

দক্ষ পরিচালনা পরিষদের সঠিক নির্দেশনা, একঝাঁক অভিজ্ঞ, দক্ষ শিক্ষক মন্ডলী ও কর্মচারীদের আন্তরিক ও নিরলস প্রচেষ্টায় ফসল আজকের এই অগ্রগতি। অত্র প্রতিষ্ঠানের ছাত্র-ছাত্রীরা বিভিন্ন পদে ও পেশায় নিয়োজিত হয়ে দেশের জন্য কাজ করে যাচ্ছে। দাশুড়িয়া কলেজ প্রতিষ্ঠার এটাই সবচেয়ে বড় সার্থকতা। দাশুড়িয়া কলেজ প্রতিষ্ঠা না হলে এই জনপদের অনেক সন্তানের সামনে উচ্চ শিক্ষার দ্বার উম্মোচিত হতোনা।

আজকের এই অবস্থানে আসার পথ কুসুমাস্তীর্ণ ছিলনা, অনেক দুর্গম পথ পাড়ি দিতে হয়েছে, অনেক কাঠখড় পোড়াতে হয়েছে। লাল ফিতার দৌরাত্তে বারবার বাধাগ্রস্থ হয়েছে কলেজের অগ্রযাত্রা, কলেজের মঞ্জুরী ও অনুদান পেতে বেশ বিলম্ব হয়েছে। যে বিষয়টি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ তা হচ্ছে বেসরকারী কোন শিক্ষা প্রতিষ্ঠান গড়তে গেলে সরকারী প্রশাসন যন্ত্র যতনা প্রতিষ্ঠান প্রতিষ্ঠা বান্ধব তার চেয়ে এর উল্টোটাই বেশী। ২০০৩ ইং সনে কলেজের রূপকার আঃ হামিদ জিন্নাহ দুস্কৃতিকারীদের হাতে নির্মমভাবে নিহত হন। তার অকাল তিরোধানে তাঁর অভাব বর্তমানে প্রতি মুহুর্তে অনুভূত হচ্ছে এবং ভবিষ্যতেও হবে।

অত্র কলেজে অনার্স কোর্স চালু বর্তমানে সময়ের দাবী ও জরুরী এব্যাপারে ইতিমধ্যেই কার্যক্রম শুরু হয়েছে। তাছাড়া প্রয়োজন এম,পি,ও বিহীন শিক্ষকদের এম,পি,ও ভূক্তি, একটি বিজ্ঞান ভবন, সীমানা প্রাচীর, মেয়ে ও ছেলেদের আলাদা হোষ্টেলসহ অন্যান্য প্রয়োজন পুরণে সরকারী আর্থিক সহায়তা।

কলেজ প্রতিষ্ঠায় সকল পেশা ও শ্রেনীর মানুষের ইচ্ছা পুরন হয়েছে। এজন্য আল্লাহ পাকের দরবারে কোটি-কোটি শুকরিয়া। এই কলেজ হতে যুগে যুগে শিক্ষার্থীরা আলোর মশাল নিয়ে মানব কল্যাণে দেশ বিদেশে ছড়িয়ে পড়বে এবং গোটা মানব সম্প্রদায়ের কল্যাণে আত্মনিয়োগ করবে।





A Brief History of the College
Located in a serene natural environment beside the Dhaka-Rajshahi and Ishwardi-Dhaka highways, Dashuria Degree College is situated in Dashuria Union, Ishwardi Upazila, Pabna District, washed by the waters of the Padma River. Before the construction of the Bangabandhu Bridge, Dashuria was the only communication hub connecting the capital Dhaka with the entire northern region and parts of the southwest. Though the significance of Dashuria momentarily declined after the construction of the Bangabandhu Bridge, the establishment of the Lalon Shah Bridge has compensated for this loss to a great extent. Despite its geographical importance, Dashuria has seen little development, lagging behind in education and other sectors. Although the need for a college was long felt, it was delayed due to the lack of capable leadership. Had it been established earlier, Dashuria's history might have been written differently, propelling the region forward. To illuminate Dashuria with the light of knowledge, the late valiant freedom fighter Abdul Hamid Jinnah envisioned the establishment of a college. With his charismatic leadership, he mobilized like-minded individuals and people from all walks of life to turn this vision into reality. At that time, the current principal, Mr. Abdul Kader, was employed elsewhere. Inspired by this noble initiative, he resigned from his job and dedicated himself to founding the college. On July 7, 1989, an informal meeting was held, followed by a public gathering on July 20, where the Dashuria College Implementation Committee was formed. Subsequently, on July 30, 1989, the committee entrusted the current principal with the responsibility of establishing the college. While many people from different professions and social classes contributed generously to the college’s founding, some opposed it without reason. However, perseverance and determination overcame all obstacles. History bears witness that those who work for a noble cause receive divine blessings and support. The business community of Dashuria also played a vital role in establishing the college. Without the unwavering dedication of the late Abdul Hamid Jinnah and the patience and determination of Principal Abdul Kader, overcoming all challenges to establish the college would have been difficult and delayed. Although the college was established in 1989, student admissions in the Humanities and Business Studies departments began in 1990. The academic activities initially started in a small, 45-foot-long tin-roofed structure on purchased land. Within a week of student admissions, the college received a visit from Professor Dr. Md. Abul Kashem, a distinguished educationist from Rupur village and then Chairman of the Education Board. In 1992, 25 students from the first batch appeared as private candidates in the final examination. The college was recognized by the Education Board in the 1991-92 academic year and was included in the Monthly Pay Order (MPO) system in 1994. A key figure in securing this recognition and government financial support was Begum Khodeja Azam, then Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Education. To honor her contributions, the college’s administrative building has been named after her. The people of Dashuria will always remember her invaluable support. Various political figures and government officials have served as college presidents over time. During its founding, the president was Mr. Manzur Rahman Biswas, then Member of Parliament for Pabna-4, who provided full support for its establishment. In 1991, the position was taken over by Mr. Shafiqul Islam, then Upazila Executive Officer of Ishwardi and later Director General (Joint Secretary) of the Department of Archaeology. His contributions to the college were unparalleled. Former Member of Parliament Md. Sirajul Islam Sardar (1992-1996) played a crucial role in the college’s development during his tenure. From 1996 to 2001, freedom fighter Mr. Shamsur Rahman Sharif served as the president and oversaw the construction of a three-story building with government funding and the introduction of a bachelor's degree program. The people of Dashuria will always remember his contributions. In 1994, the college received government grants, leading to the establishment of a Science department the same year. In 1998, bachelor's courses were introduced, and in 2003, the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC-BM) course under the Technical Board was launched to promote vocational education. The college has consistently maintained excellent academic results. It is a smoke-free, politics-free institution, with no posters or graffiti on its walls, creating a unique, peaceful learning environment. Now, the journey forward continues. Overcoming numerous challenges, the college has grown significantly from its humble beginnings in a small tin-roofed structure to a well-established institution with a magnificent three-story building, two two-story buildings, and a semi-pucca building. The campus boasts a beautiful Shaheed Minar, an eye-catching entrance gate, a vast playground, well-equipped science and computer labs, and a well-stocked library. The college provides an ideal academic environment with all necessary facilities, including special support for financially disadvantaged and meritorious students. The founding principal, Mr. Abdul Kader, played an invaluable role in shaping the college. With parental care, he nurtured the institution, tirelessly working for its development. Due to his relentless efforts, the college has steadily progressed in infrastructure, student enrollment, and academic performance, securing a place among the top private colleges in the district. What started with a handful of students has now grown into a thriving institution with around 1,500 students, making it a model institution. The success of the college is the result of strong leadership, an experienced and dedicated faculty, and the tireless efforts of its staff. Graduates of Dashuria Degree College are serving in various sectors, contributing to the nation's progress. This is the true success of its establishment. Without it, many bright students in the area would have been deprived of higher education. The journey to this point was not easy—it was fraught with numerous hurdles, requiring patience and persistence. Bureaucratic red tape often slowed the college’s progress, delaying its approval and funding. Unfortunately, in 2003, the college’s visionary founder, Abdul Hamid Jinnah, was tragically murdered by miscreants. His absence is deeply felt, and his contributions will always be remembered. The introduction of Honors courses is now a necessity, and steps have already been taken in this direction. Other urgent requirements include MPO inclusion for non-MPO teachers, the construction of a science building, boundary walls, separate hostels for male and female students, and increased government financial assistance. The people of Dashuria have seen their long-cherished dream fulfilled through the establishment of this college. For this, they express their gratitude to the Almighty. The college will continue to produce enlightened graduates who will spread the light of knowledge worldwide and dedicate themselves to the welfare of humanity.
