Rafatul
Rafatul — a name, a flower,
That bloomed on the eighth day of Poush, in dew-wet nature.
In the year 1424 ,
Amidst the chilly breeze, light blossomed in a small room,
With sky-touching love.

Many times we met on the street corner,
A gentle smile, a familiar face, you said —
“Come home!”
“See Rafatul with your own eyes, fill your heart.”

Then fifteen hundred and ninety days passed,
Days spent in breaks and festivals,
Finally, we met at the noon of Eid ul-Fitr,
A restless, brilliant star.

On the 2nd of Jyeshtha 1429,
The Owner of Destiny called the fleeting life,
To adorn the beauty of Jannah.

Days and nights pass, heart heavy, eyes filled with tears,
No longer rushing comes that naughty restless soul.

In just a few moments, so many words, so many woven memories,
Who knows how much love, how much affection, how much emotion is blended within.

Time never cradles a lie for long;
Be it a moment or an age gone wrong,
The truth will rise, breaking through the chest—
Though history wears both false and true dress,
The conscience stands, unshaken, strong—
It never lets the lie belong.

The new is but a fleeting gleam,
A shimmer lost in twilight’s dream.
Beyond the veil, no promise lies—
Just hush of ends in soft disguise.

Goodwill alone births not the grace,
For wishes stray in crooked space.
Even in dawn’s unblemished hue,
Lurks shadows bent, in silent view.

True peace, true welfare of the soul,
Resides not near the halls of fame.
But give it back—your light, your grace—
To broken hearts in shadowed place,
And it shall rise, serene and free,
As calm, as light, as eternity.

The whiteness of the sky is lost today,
An unknown mixture lingers in the air,
Nature’s green has turned to gray,
The purity of the soil smells of corpses today.

Humanity has died because we have become inhuman.
Justice has vanished because we are unjust.
There is a lack of light because we are blind.
Destruction is all around because we are faithless.
Yet each of us knows — truth and justice will prevail one day.
