In today’s era of data-driven research, the integration of computational tools has become indispensable for modern biological sciences. Recognizing this growing demand, the 𝑩𝒊𝒐𝒕𝒆𝒄𝒉 𝑨𝒔𝒔𝒐𝒄𝒊𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏, Department of Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering (BGE), Noakhali Science and Technology University (NSTU), proudly presents a three-day online workshop on “Basic R Programming for Biologists”, designed, planned, and executed by Chairman, Department of BGE, NSTU.

This intensive workshop aims to equip participants with the essential skills required to harness the power of R programming, a globally acclaimed language for statistical computing, data visualization, and biological data interpretation. Through a blend of theoretical insight and hands-on practice, participants will explore how computational tools can revolutionize research in biotechnology, genomics, and molecular biology.

Workshop Highlights:
Participants will develop a strong command of R fundamentals: syntax, data types, and data structures
2. Data importing, cleaning, and visualization methods
3. Statistical analysis and graphical representation of biological data
4. Real-world applications in genomics, transcriptomics, and bioinformatics

Session Outline:
Day 1: Getting Started with R: Introduction to R environment, data handling, and operations
Day 2: Data Analysis and Visualization: Data manipulation, statistical functions, and generating high-quality plots
Day 3: Biological Data Applications: Gene expression analysis, GEO data handling, predictive modeling and biological data visualization

The sessions will be conducted by Mohammad Nur Islam, Bioinformatics Lab Instructor, Department of BGE, NSTU, whose expertise in computational biology ensures a highly practical and engaging learning experience.

For the very first time, the Biotech Association is organizing a 3-day (November 13-15, 2025) long workshop on “Basic R Programming” aimed at introducing participants to the fundamentals of R, one of the most powerful tools for data analysis, visualization, and biological data interpretation.

💡 Pre-Workshop Event:
Before the main workshop, a free offline seminar on R Programming will be held, open to all interested participants. This seminar will be held on November 3, 2025 at VC (Video Conferencing) room, NSTU. This Pre-Workshop seminar is free for all.

Abunasar Miah sir, Chairman and Associate Professor of the Department of Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering, will act as the Convener, and Dr. Mohammed Mafizul Islam sir, Associate Professor of the Department of Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering will function as the Member Secretary. This is to inform that the 9th Batch of the Department of Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering,NSTU will undertake an Academic Field Trip to the Chattogram Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (CVASU) on Thursday, September 4, 2025.

The delegation will depart from the university campus at 6:00 AM.

All are requested to keep the participants in their prayers for a safe journey and a successful academic experience.
