In Bangladesh, approximately 20,000 students graduate annually with a degree in Computer Science and Engineering (CSE)​ (The Daily Star)​​ (The Business Standard)​. However, the demand for new technical personnel in the IT sector is significantly lower, with the industry needing around 7,500 to 8,000 new employees each year​ (The Business Standard)​.

Despite the high number of graduates, there is a notable skills gap. Over 80% of job seekers in the IT sector fail basic competency tests in coding, mathematics, and English​ (The Business Standard)​. This gap is attributed to outdated and theoretical teaching methods, limited practical training, and inadequate laboratory facilities​ (The Business Standard)​. Consequently, many IT firms in Bangladesh end up hiring less skilled graduates at lower salaries, which also impacts the overall pay structure in the industry​ (The Business Standard)​.

Efforts are being made to address these issues. For instance, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) is funding initiatives to improve the quality and relevance of CSE and IT education in several universities, aiming to produce more job-ready graduates​ (The Business Standard)​.

Format: The Listening test is divided into 4 sections, each with 10 questions, making a total of 40 questions. The difficulty level increases with each section.

Section 1: A conversation between two people set in an everyday social context (e.g., booking a hotel room, inquiring about courses).

Section 2: A monologue set in an everyday social context (e.g., a speech about local facilities).

Section 3: A conversation between up to four people set in an educational or training context (e.g., a group of students planning a project).

Section 4: A monologue on an academic subject (e.g., a university lecture).

Multiple Choice: Choose the correct answer from three or four options.

Matching: Match a list of items to a set of possible answers.

Plan/Map/Diagram Labeling: Label a map, diagram, or plan with the correct items.

Form/Note/Table/Flow-Chart/Summary Completion: Fill in the gaps in a given text or table with words from the listening passage.

Sentence Completion: Complete sentences with information from the listening text.

Short-Answer Questions: Provide a short answer to a question based on the listening text.

Each correct answer receives 1 mark.
Scores out of 40 are converted to the IELTS 9-band scale.
To achieve a Band 8, you typically need to score 35 out of 40.

𝐓𝐢𝐩𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐓𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐤𝐬
Preview the Questions: Before each section begins, you have time to look at the questions. Use this time to understand what type of information you need to listen for.

Example: If you see a question asking for a date, listen for numbers and time references.

Identify Keywords: Focus on keywords in the questions that will help you identify the relevant part of the listening passage.

Example: If a question mentions "booking a room," listen for phrases like "I'd like to book" or "reservation."
Synonyms and Paraphrasing: The IELTS Listening test often uses synonyms and paraphrasing. Practice identifying how the same information can be expressed differently.

Example: If the question uses "happy," the listening passage might say "pleased."
Note-Taking: Develop a method for quick note-taking. Jot down important words or phrases as you listen.

Example: If the speaker mentions "February 14," quickly write "Feb 14" to save time.
Stay Focused: It’s easy to get distracted or miss information. If you miss a question, quickly move on to the next one. Don’t dwell on what you missed.

Tip: If you realize you've missed an answer, refocus immediately to avoid missing more questions.

Practice Different Accents: The IELTS Listening test includes various English accents (British, Australian, American, etc.). Get comfortable with different pronunciations.

Resource: Listen to podcasts, watch movies, or use language learning platforms with speakers from different regions.
Check Your Answers: Use the last 10 minutes to transfer your answers to the answer sheet carefully. Ensure spelling and grammar are correct, since mistakes can cost you marks.

Tip: Double-check the instructions for each type of question to ensure your answers meet the requirements (e.g., word limits).
Listening for Detail: Pay close attention to details such as dates, times, names, and places, as these are common in questions.

Example: If the question asks for a date, listen carefully for phrases like "on the 12th of May" or "by May 12th."

To promote MANGA culture globally and foster international cultural exchanges through MANGA.

Awards:

1) The Japan International MANGA Award will present the Gold Award to the top MANGA work, Silver Awards to three notable works, and Bronze Awards to around eleven works.
2) Winners of the Gold and Silver Awards will receive certificates and trophies, while Bronze Award recipients will get certificates. 3) A Special Encouragement Award may be given to a standout work that ranks above the Bronze but below the Silver Awards, receiving a certificate.
4) Additionally, Gold and Silver Award winners will be invited to Japan for about 7 days to attend the award ceremony; recipients of the Special Encouragement and Bronze Awards are not eligible for this trip.
