"একটি সুন্দর রং সুন্দর, কিন্তু তার চেয়ে বেশি সুন্দর একটি সুন্দর মুখাবয়ব, তারও চেয়ে সুন্দর একটি সুন্দর মন বা সুন্দর চরিত্র"

এই উক্তিটি শিল্পাচার্য জয়নুল আবেদিনের, যা তাঁর শিল্প দর্শন ও মানবিক মূল্যবোধের প্রতিফলন, যেখানে তিনি বাহ্যিক সৌন্দর্যের চেয়ে মানসিক ও চারিত্রিক সৌন্দর্যকে বেশি গুরুত্ব দিতেন। তিনি বিশ্বাস করতেন যে শিল্পের চূড়ান্ত উদ্দেশ্য মানবজীবনকে সমৃদ্ধ ও সুন্দর করা এবং সুন্দর মনই প্রকৃত শিল্পকলার ভিত্তি।

তিনি আরও বলেন,

"এখন তো চারিদিকে রুচির দুর্ভিক্ষ। একটি স্বাধীন দেশে সুচিন্তা ও সুরুচির দুর্ভিক্ষ। এই দুর্ভিক্ষের কোনো ছবি হয় না।”

শিল্পাচার্য জয়নুল আবেদিনের এই উক্তি দুটি আজ যেন আরও গভীরভাবে সত্য হয়ে উঠেছে আমাদের জীবনে।
