1 Accounting equation

Assets equals liabilities plus capital
This is the backbone of double entry accounting

2 Double entry system

Every transaction affects at least two accounts
One account is debited and another is credited

3 Debit and credit rules

Debit increases assets and expenses
Credit increases liabilities equity and income

4 Accrual basis accounting

Revenue is recorded when earned
Expenses are recorded when incurred
Not when cash moves

5 Matching principle

Expenses must be matched with the revenue they help generate
This gives a correct profit figure

6 Revenue recognition principle

Revenue is recognized when goods or services are delivered
Not when cash is received

7 Conservatism principle

Do not overstate assets or income
Record potential losses but not potential gains

8 Materiality

Only significant information that affects decisions should be recorded or disclosed

9 Consistency principle

Once an accounting method is chosen it must be applied the same way every period

10 Going concern assumption

The business is assumed to continue operating indefinitely unless stated otherwise

Shahen Shah, a Bangladeshi scientist and associate professor at Yildiz Technical University in Turkey, has developed an innovative method using multiple drones to maintain communication networks during disasters like earthquakes and floods, which often disrupt traditional mobile networks. His model, which simulates the functionality of a base station with drones, gained attention in Turkish media and was published in the Drones journal. Shahen, a top student from Daffodil International University, pursued higher studies in Bangladesh before earning a Turkish government scholarship for his PhD, during which he earned a gold medal for his research on reducing communication delays in autonomous vehicles. As the director of the AI and Next Generation Wireless Communication Lab, he leads several research projects and considers his emergency communication innovation his most significant achievement, believing it could save countless lives.
