There was a woodcutter who lived in a village. One day he was cutting wood near a river. Suddenly, his axe fell into the river. The woodcutter didn’t know how to swim or dive. So, he sat there sadly.

Then something magical happened. The river goddess appeared in front of him. She asked him why he was crying. The woodcutter told her everything.

The river goddess felt sorry for him. She went into the river and came back with a golden axe. She asked, “Is this your axe?” The woodcutter said, “No.”

The Story: Justice for Quazi
Gias Uddin Azam Shah was a great ruler of Bengal. He was kind and just. He was fond of hunting.
One day he went hunting at a nearby jungle. He aimed at a fawn but missed his target and pierced into the breast of a young boy who died instantly. The boy was the only son of a widow.
She becomes almost mad in sorrow. She went to the Quazi and complained against the Sultan for justice.
The Quazi was a beave judge. He was famous for his fair justice. He called the Sultan before the court.
He asked the Sultan to compensate the widow for her loss. Otherwise, he would punish him.
The sultan at once carried out the order of Quazi. He satisfied the widow by giving her compensation.
Then the Quazi got down from his seat and showed the Sultan due honour. He said to Sultan” If you had disobeyed my order I would have beaten you with my cane” While leaving the court the Sultan drew his sword and said to Quazi,” If you had failed to do justice out fear for me, I would have punished you with this sword

গিয়াস উদ্দিন আজম শাহ ছিলেন বাংলার একজন মহান শাসক। তিনি ছিলেন দয়ালু এবং ন্যায়বান। তিনি শিকার করতে খুব পছন্দ করতেন।
