Some important Subject-Verb Agreement rules.

1. A singular subject takes the verb in singular and a plural subject takes the verb in plural. (একটি singular subject একটি singular verb এবং একটি plural subject একটি plural verb নেয়।)

Ex: There is a bird.
Ex: There are four birds.
Ex: He is a cricketer.
Ex: They are cricketers.

2. But a singular subject takes a plural verb in the subjunctive mood.

Ex: If I were in the program, I would sing a song.
Ex: I wish I were the president of Bangladesh.

3.An uncountable noun, though plural in sense takes a singular verb : [ যে সব Noun গণনা করা যায় না, সেগুলি অর্থের দিক থেকে বহুবচন হলেও singular verb গ্রহণ করবে।
Ex: Her hair is black.
Ex: The grass is green.
Ex: The news is not true at all.

My, our, your, his, her, their, its যখন Pronoun না হয়ে Adjective হয়:

Pronoun-এর এই form গুলো my, our, your, his, her, their, এবং its Noun-এর আগে বসলে Adjective-এর মতো কাজ করে। সেজন্য এগুলোকে Pronominal Adjective বা Possessive Adjective বলা হয় ।
যেমন- My pen, your box, our house ইত্যাদি।

অন্যদিকে This pen is mine. This box is yours. This house is ours-এরূপ প্রয়োগ হলে mine, yours, ours ইত্যাদিকে Possessive Pronoun বলা হয়। এদের মধ্যে ours, yours, hers, theirs—এই পদগুলিতে r এবং s দুটোই থাকার জন্য এগুলিকে Double possessive বলা হয়।

Preposition vs Adverb

Rule no.1: A preposition must take a noun/pronoun/ noun equivalent word.If a "preposition" does not take any noun/pronoun it is not a preposition, it's probably an adverb. Look at these examples:

They are in the classroom. (preposition 'in' has taken the noun ' the classroom'
Please, come in. (adverb in has no object; it qualifies come)

There was a table before me. (preposition 'before' has object me)
I had never seen it before. (adverb 'before' has no object; it qualifies seen)

Deference between its and it's:

The words its and it's are two different words with different meanings.

The cat has hurt its leg. (its as possessive case)

Sadiq says it's nine o'clock. (it's as a short form of it is)

The learners sometimes get frustrated because no rule of English grammar or vocabulary is straightforward.There are always exceptions. Many people make common mistakes in every aspect of English.

Vowel (a,e,i,o,u) ছাড়া কোন word গঠিত হয় না।
কিন্তু My,Cry,try প্রভৃতি word-এ তো কোন Vowel নাই!

আসলে 'Y'- কে বলা হয় Semi vowel /Special vowel.
সুতরাং, অন্য কোনো vowel না থাকলেও অবশ্যই y থাকতে হবে।
