English language learning in our traditional academic set-up is seriously affected by some obvious inappropriateness in the way it is introduced in our country. The curriculum designed in every sector, ranging from the pre-primary to tertiary, is no doubt an appreciable one comparing to what is currently in practice round the world but unfortunately our students are made distracted from the actual language learning to mere scoring; scoring high without learning, which is pretty possible up to the intermediate thanks to the generosity of our politicians.

We know how poor most of our students are when it comes to English. And the the soaring unemployment despite the high(!) success rate in public exams is a testimony to how impoverished the condition could be.
