65 Years of Bangladesh Agricultural University: A Legacy of Service and Excellence

Today, August 18, 2026, we celebrate the 65th founding anniversary of Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU), our beloved institution. The day was marked with a a rally, hoisting of the national and university flags, release of fish fry in the River Brahmaputra and tree plantation. The enthusiastic participation of teachers, students, officers, employees and university organizations made the celebration truly a memorable occassion.

May our Alma Mater continue to lead, inspire and serve the nation for many years to come.

Proud Moment for BAU as Prof. Dr. Md. Rafiqul Islam Sarder, Departmet of Fisheries Biology and Genetics, Faculty of Fisheries, BAU, has been awarded “National Fisheries Gold Medal” for his decade long contributions to fish cryopreservation research. The award was presented by the Honourable Prime Minister Tarique Rahman during the inaugural ceremony of the National Fish Fortnight 2026 held on 16 August, 2026 in Kotiadi, Kishoreganj.
This prestigious recognition is a testament to Prof. Sarder's pioneering and dedicated research in the critical fields of Cryopreservation of Fish S***m and Cryogenic Gene Banking. His work over the past decade has been instrumental in developing advanced techniques for the long-term preservation of fish genetic resources which holds immense potential for biodiversity conservation and the sustainable management of valuable fisheries resources of the country. This award is a tremendous honor not only for Prof. Sarder but for BAU. His efforts in advancing cryogenic technology and establishing a gene bank directly contribute to safeguarding indigenous fish species, supporting aquaculture, and ensuring food security for the nation.

BAU family is proud that Prof. Dr. Md. Rafiqul Islam Sarder has been awarded the " National Fisheries Gold Medal 2026".

A workshop titled “A Self-Assessment Framework for Continuous Learning and Improvement”, organized by the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) was held on Monday, August 3, 2026, at 10:00 AM at the Dean’s Conference Room of the Faculty of Agriculture with the participation of teachers of the university.
Honorable Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. A. K. Fazlul Haque Bhuiyan was present as the Chief Patron of the workshop. Prof. Dr. Mohammad Mosharraf Uddin Bhuiyan, Director, Planning and Development Branch and Prof. Dr. Md. Abdul Alim, Proctor, BAU were present as Special Guests. IQAC Acting Director Prof. Dr. Md. Shaheed Reza presided over the event and Additional Director Prof. Dr. Murad Ahmed Farukh moderated the program.
In the speech of the Chief Patron, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. A. K. Fazlul Haque Bhuiyan said, “We have to focus on how we can produce quality graduates through improving the quality of university education.” He advised the teachers to focus more on quality in addition to increasing the standard of all the graduates of the ten degree programs offered by the university. Stating that there is no end to quality, he said that teachers are basically in the process of learning their entire lives, in addition to teaching the students. Therefore, teachers actually have to move forward in the continuity of self-development. He urged the students to prepare for accreditation by thoroughly understanding all the issues related to self-assessment, praised the activities of the IQAC in the last two years, and wished the success of this workshop.
It is worth noting that a total of 150 teachers from six faculties and five institutes of BAU participated in the day-long workshop.

কর্মশালায় প্রধান পৃষ্ঠপোষক হিসেবে উপস্থিত ছিলেন ভাইস-চ্যান্সেলর প্রফেসর ড. এ কে ফজলুল হক ভুঁইয়া। বিশেষ অতিথি হিসেবে উপস্থিত ছিলেন প্রফেসর ড. মোহাম্মদ মোশাররফ উদ্দিন ভুঁঞা, পরিচালক, পরিকল্পনা ও উন্নয়ন শাখা এবং প্রফেসর ড. মোঃ আব্দুল আলীম, প্রক্টর বাকৃবি।
আইকিউএসি-এর ভারপ্রাপ্ত পরিচালক প্রফেসর ড. মোঃ শাহেদ রেজার সভাপতিত্বে এবং অতিরিক্ত পরিচালক প্রফেসর ড. মুরাদ আহমেদ ফারুখের সঞ্চালনায় পরিচালিত উক্ত কর্মশালায় বক্তাগণ বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের শিক্ষা ও গবেষণার মানোন্নয়ন এবং ধারাবাহিক শেখার প্রক্রিয়ার ওপর স্ব-মূল্যায়ন কাঠামোর গুরুত্ব নিয়ে মূল্যবান মতামত ব্যক্ত করেন।
প্রধান পৃষ্ঠপোষকের বক্তব্যে ভাইস-চ্যান্সেলর প্রফেসর ড. এ কে ফজলুল হক ভূঁইয়া বলেন, "আমরা কীভাবে বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের শিক্ষার মানউন্নয়নের মাধ্যমে মানসম্পন্ন গ্র‍্যাজুয়েট তৈরি করতে পারি সেদিকে লক্ষ্য রাখতে হবে"। তিনি অত্র বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের ১০টি ডিগ্রির সকল গ্র‍্যাজুয়েটদের কোয়ালিটি বৃদ্ধির পাশাপাশি শিক্ষকদেরকেও আরও অধিকতর মানসম্পন্ন হওয়ার পরামর্শ প্রদান করেন। কোয়ালিটির শেষ বলতে কিছু নেই উল্লেখ করে তিনি বলেন যে, শিক্ষক সমাজ ছাত্রদের শেখানোর পাশাপাশি মূলতঃ সারাটা জীবন শেখার প্রক্রিয়ার মাঝেই থাকেন। সুতরাং শিক্ষকদের প্রকৃতপক্ষেই আত্মউন্নয়নের ধারাবাহিকতায় এগিয়ে যেতে হয়। তিনি সেলফ অ্যাসেসমেন্ট সংক্রান্ত সকল বিষয়গুলো ভালোভাবে আত্মস্থ করে অ্যাক্রেডিটেশনের জন্য প্রস্তুতি নেয়ার আহবান জানিয়ে আইকিউএসি সেলের বিগত দুই বছরের কর্মকান্ডের প্রশংসা করেন এবং এই কর্মশালার সফলতা কামনা করেন।

July Mass Uprising Day – August 5
Today, we remember and honor the historic July Mass Uprising of 2024, a student-led movement that shattered the chains of oppression, inequality and autocratic rule in Bangladesh. On this day, we pay our deepest respect to the brave souls who made the ultimate sacrifice – Abu Sayed, Mugdho, Wasim, Yamin, Farhan, Nafiz, Tayim, Naima, Ria Gopa, Ahad, and countless unnamed heroes. Their courage, resilience and love for our country will never be forgotten.

A workshop titled "Course Filing for Data-driven Curriculum Enhancement in Higher Education" was organized by the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU). The workshop, organized under the supervision of the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) held at the Dean’s Conference Conference Room, Faculty of Agriculture, was attended by Honorable Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. A. K. Fazlul Haque Bhuiyan as the Chief Patron. The workshop was Chaired by IQAC Director Prof. Dr. M. Asaduzzaman Sarker and moderated by Additional Director Prof. Dr. Murad Ahmed Farukh. Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture Professor Dr. G. M. Mujibur Rahman and Coordinator of the Higher Education and Research Committee Professor Dr. Md. Shamsul Alam spoke as Special Guests. Also present was Prof. Dr. Md. Shaheed Reza, Additional Director of IQAC.
In speech as the Chair, Prof. Dr. M. Asaduzzaman Sarkar highlighted the rationale of this workshop and mentioned that it is very important in bringing discipline to the educational program. In his speech as the Chief Patron, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. A. K. Fazlul Haque Bhuiyan said that the structure of the Accreditation Council is being newly restructured recently. He expressed optimism and said that if the teachers of BAU work with more concentration and coordination, it is possible to organize the entire accreditation structure well. He further said that various faculties and degree-granting authorities of the university have already completed the necessary preparations and activities. He also mentioned that significant progress has been achieved in this regard recently through the Academic Council and Syndicate.
It is worth noting that a total of 150 teachers from six faculties and 5 institutes of BAU participated in this day-long workshop, which was conducted in 4 sessions with the aim of improving the quality of higher education, modernizing data-based curriculum, and further strengthening the course filing process.

প্রধান অতিথির বক্তব্যে বাংলাদেশ কৃষি বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের ভাইস-চ্যান্সেলর প্রফেসর ড. এ কে ফজলুল হক ভূঁইয়া বলেন, সাম্প্রতিক সময়ে অ্যাক্রেডিটেশন কাউন্সিলের কাঠামো নতুনভাবে পুনর্বিন্যাস করা হচ্ছে। তিনি আশাবাদ ব্যক্ত করে বলেন, বাকৃবির শিক্ষকবৃন্দ আরও একাগ্রতা ও সমন্বয়ের সঙ্গে কাজ করলে অ্যাক্রেডিটেশনের পুরো কাঠামো সুসংগঠিত করা সম্ভব। তিনি আরও বলেন, ইতোমধ্যে বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের বিভিন্ন অনুষদ এবং ডিগ্রি প্রদানকারী কর্তৃপক্ষ প্রয়োজনীয় প্রস্তুতি ও কার্যক্রম সম্পন্ন করেছে। একাডেমিক কাউন্সিল ও সিন্ডিকেটের মাধ্যমে সম্প্রতি এ বিষয়ে উল্লেখযোগ্য অগ্রগতি অর্জিত হয়েছে বলেও তিনি উল্লেখ করেন।
উল্লেখ্য, উচ্চশিক্ষার মানোন্নয়ন, উপাত্তভিত্তিক কারিকুলাম আধুনিকীকরণ এবং কোর্স ফাইলিং প্রক্রিয়াকে আরও জোরদার করার লক্ষ্যে ৪টি সেশনে পরিচালিত দিনব্যাপী এই কর্মশালায় বাকৃবির ছয়টি অনুষদ এবং ৫ টি ইন্সটিটিউটের সর্বমোট ১৫০জন শিক্ষক অংশগ্রহণ করেন।]

It is with immense pleasure and pride that we, from IQAC, share a news that Prof. Dr. M. Asaduzzaman Sarker has been appointed as the Vice-Chancellor of Khulna Agricultural University (KAU).

As the Director of IQAC, his leadership has been instrumental in shaping quality assurance at our institution. This recognition is a testament to his dedication, vision, and expertise. While we will miss him a lot at BAU, it will be a monumental gain for KAU. We hope that under his guidance, Khulna Agricultural University will reach new heights in education and innovation.

A two-day training program, organized by the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of BAU, titled “Development of Skills in the Use and Implementation of D-Nothi” was held on 24-25 July, 2026 to enhance the skills of Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) officials and make administrative activities digital and dynamic.
The inauguration ceremony held on Friday (July 24, 2026) at 10 am was attended by the Honorable Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor Dr. A. K. Fazlul Haque Bhuiyan, as the Chief Patron. The Registrar of the university, Dr. Md. Halal Uddin and Treasurer, Professor Dr. Humayun Kabir, were present as Special Guests at the ceremony. Muhammad Nazmul Islam, Additional Director of the ICT Department of the University Grants Commission (UGC), and Dwijen Chandra Das, Deputy Director, were present as Resource Persons. In addition, IQAC Additional Director, Professor Dr. Md. Shaheed Reza and Professor Dr. Murad Ahmed Farukh were present at the ceremony. IQAC Director, Professor Dr. M. Asaduzzaman Sarker presided over the ceremony.
In his speech as the Chief Patron, Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. A. K. Fazlul Haque Bhuiyan told that the content of this training on the use and implementation of D-Nothi is very important. After the training, the D-Nothi activities will be officially launched in all the relevant departments of the university. He called for making the administrative activities more dynamic, transparent and efficient by properly utilizing the knowledge gained in the training.
It is worth noting that the training will be held for two days starting from July 24 and ending on July 25, 2026. A total of 20 senior and mid-level officials of the university administration are participating in it.

[বাংলাদেশ কৃষি বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের (বাকৃবি) ইনস্টিটিউশনাল কোয়ালিটি অ্যাসুরেন্স সেল (আইকিউএসি)-এর উদ্যোগে কর্মকর্তাদের দক্ষতা বৃদ্ধি এবং প্রশাসনিক কার্যক্রমকে ডিজিটাল ও গতিশীল করার লক্ষ্যে “ডি-নথির ব্যবহার ও বাস্তবায়ন বিষয়ক দক্ষতা উন্নয়ন” শীর্ষক দুই দিনব্যাপী প্রশিক্ষণের উদ্বোধনী অনুষ্ঠান অনুষ্ঠিত হয়েছে। গতকাল শুক্রবার (২৪ জুলাই ২০২৬) সকাল ১০টায় অনুষ্ঠিত উদ্বোধনী অনুষ্ঠানে প্রধান অতিথি হিসেবে উপস্থিত ছিলেন বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের ভাইস-চ্যান্সেলর প্রফেসর ড. এ. কে. ফজলুল হক ভূঁইয়া। অনুষ্ঠানে বিশেষ অতিথি হিসেবে উপস্থিত ছিলেন বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের রেজিস্ট্রার ড. মো. হেলাল উদ্দীন এবং ট্রেজারার প্রফেসর ড. হুমায়ুন কবির। রিসোর্স পার্সন হিসেবে উপস্থিত ছিলেন বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় মঞ্জুরি কমিশনের (ইউজিসি) আইসিটি বিভাগের অতিরিক্ত পরিচালক মুহাম্মদ নাজমুল ইসলাম এবং উপ-পরিচালক দ্বিজেন চন্দ্র দাস। এছাড়া অনুষ্ঠানে আইকিউএসি-এর অতিরিক্ত পরিচালক প্রফেসর ড. মো. শাহেদ রেজা এবং প্রফেসর ড. মুরাদ আহমেদ ফারুখ উপস্থিত ছিলেন। অনুষ্ঠানে সভাপতিত্ব করেন আইকিউএসি-এর পরিচালক প্রফেসর ড. মো. আসাদুজ্জামান সরকার।
প্রধান অতিথির বক্তব্যে ভাইস-চ্যান্সেলর প্রফেসর ড. এ. কে. ফজলুল হক ভূঁইয়া বলেন, ডি-নথির ব্যবহার ও বাস্তবায়ন বিষয়ক এ প্রশিক্ষণের বিষয়বস্তু অত্যন্ত গুরুত্বপূর্ণ। প্রশিক্ষণ শেষে আগামী রোববার থেকে বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের সকল সংশ্লিষ্ট দপ্তরে ডি-নথির কার্যক্রম আনুষ্ঠানিকভাবে চালু করা হবে। তিনি প্রশিক্ষণে অর্জিত জ্ঞান যথাযথভাবে কাজে লাগিয়ে প্রশাসনিক কার্যক্রমকে আরও গতিশীল, স্বচ্ছ ও দক্ষ করার আহ্বান জানান।
উল্লেখ্য, প্রশিক্ষণটি ২৪ জুলাই শুরু হয়ে ২৫ জুলাই ২০২৬ পর্যন্ত দুই দিনব্যাপী অনুষ্ঠিত হবে। এতে বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের প্রশাসনের সিনিয়র ও মিড-লেভেল পর্যায়ের মোট ২০ জন কর্মকর্তা অংশগ্রহণ করছেন।]
