“Excellence is never an accident; it is the result of vision, dedication, and relentless curiosity.”

We are immensely proud to congratulate Fayez Ahmad, Head of Academics at Rural Olympiad Community, on his acceptance into the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Class of 2030.

Fayez has been a remarkable figure in the Olympiad community. He is a two-time IBO Bronze Medalist (2023, 2024) and IJSO Silver Medalist (2023). Alongside his success in Olympiads, he has also shown excellence in debate and holds a 2400 chess rating placing him among the top players in Bangladesh. He is also the founder of OlyPara and Rural Olympiad Community, two non-profit initiatives dedicated to supporting and growing the Olympiad community.

We congratulate Fayez on this incredible achievement and wish him the very best for his journey at MIT.

As we step into a new year, it feels right to pause and reflect on how far the Rural Olympiad Community has come in just one and a half years.

What began as a shared belief, that rural students deserve the same opportunities as anyone else, has slowly, steadily grown into something we are deeply proud of.

Our journey started on March 29, 2024, with the Rural Olympiad Community 1st Camp in Asim, Mymensingh. Fifteen sessions. Over thirty-five hours of learning across Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry. For many of the students who attended, it was their very first introduction to the world of Olympiads. We were not sure what to expect. What we found was curiosity, raw, eager, and waiting to be guided.

By June 2024, more than 300 students had gathered for our 1st Science Olympiad, taking on challenging problems in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. The numbers mattered less than what we witnessed in that room: rural students standing tall, competing, and believing in themselves, many for the very first time.

Through the remainder of 2024, we continued organizing online and offline classes, keeping the momentum going through smaller, regular sessions.

Then in April 2025, the vision expanded nationally. ROC Talents 2025, held on April 18 and 19, brought together 522 students from 44 districts, competing across Mathematics, Physics, Biochemistry, and Science Olympiads. It was a powerful reminder of something we have always believed: talent does not belong to cities. It lives everywhere, and it only needs a door.

Most recently, this past June, we organized a five-day online camp for 84 students, every session conducted by International Olympiad medalists and national team campers. We provided 41,000 BDT in financial aid, because we believe that a student's circumstances should never become their ceiling.

We have not stopped there. Alongside our own programs, we have supported local initiatives across Bangladesh, partnering with science clubs, creating questions for science fests, and conducting free classes on campuses whenever the opportunity arose. Quietly, consistently.

In a year and a half, Rural Olympiad Community has grown from a single camp into a nationwide initiative. But what truly defines this journey is not the scale, it is the conviction behind it.

Geography should never limit potential. It never will, as long as we keep showing up.

And this, truly, is only the beginning.

Something big is coming! Stay tuned.

We are beyond excited to introduce Fayez Ahmad as a Camp Mentor for the Rural Olympiad Community (ROC) National Camp 2025!

Fayez is a well-known name in the Olympiad community, having won bronze medals at the International Biology Olympiad (IBO) in 2023 and 2024 and a silver medal at the International Junior Science Olympiad (IJSO) in 2023. He was also a national camper in the 2021 National Physics Olympiad.

He was selected for the highly competitive Winter Cohort of the Non-Trivial Research Foundation Camp 2025, where only 250 out of nearly 5,000 applicants were accepted—an achievement that reflects both his intellectual depth and curiosity.

Outside of academics, Fayez is a passionate chess player with a peak FIDE rating of 1921 in rapid and 1863 in standard chess. He has earned multiple regional and national titles, including a silver medal at the Sheikh Kamal 2nd Youth Games 2023. He’s also a remarkable debater, winning IS-IC RUDF 2023.

But beyond all the accolades, Fayez is someone who truly cares. He leads with humility, empathy, and unwavering dedication. As a Camp Mentor, he will be working closely with our national campers—not just to help them grow academically, but to support their journeys with guidance, warmth, and wisdom.

We couldn’t be prouder to have someone like Fayez as a mentor at this year’s camp. The campers are in excellent hand

We're beyond excited to introduce Shahriar Amin Arif as a mentor for ROC Talents Camp 1.0.

Arif’s journey across the STEM landscape is a masterclass in dedication and excellence. A BdMO Regional Winner from 2019 to 2023 and again in 2025, he has consistently ranked among his region's finest young mathematicians. His passion extends beyond math—he’s also a BdPhO Regional Winner (2023–2024), BMTC TST Winner (2024), and a NEO TST Camper, showcasing his versatility across disciplines.

Arif has also shined on the national stage: Champion of the BCC Sylhet Regional Programming Contest 2025, Divisional Champion in Math and Computer segments of the National Talent Hunt 2023, and a BdJSO Regional Winner in both 2021 and 2022.

And it doesn’t stop there—on the chessboard, he was named Best Player (Board-4) in both district and divisional rounds of the Marks Active Chess Champs 2022, earning his place at the national round.

But what makes Arif truly special isn’t just his long list of achievements—it’s his passion for teaching. He’s here not only to challenge campers with brilliant problems but to mentor, encourage, and walk alongside them as they level up their thinking and confidence.

We can’t wait to see Arif in action at camp, shaping curious minds and helping campers realize what they’re capable of.

Let the learning begin!
