মহাবিশ্বের শুরু নিয়ে যখনই আমরা ভাবি, আমাদের ভাবনা সোজা চলে যায় আজ থেকে প্রায় তেরোশো কোটি বছর আগের সেই মহাবিস্ফোরণের মুহূর্তে- যাকে আমরা বলি 'বিগ ব্যাং'। বিজ্ঞান আমাদের জানায়, এই বিগ ব্যাং-এর মাধ্যমেই আমাদের চেনা স্থান (Space), কাল (Time) এবং সমস্ত পদার্থের জন্ম হয়েছে।
কিন্তু মানুষের চিন্তা তো এখানেই থেমে থাকার নয়! সবচেয়ে বড় যে প্রশ্নটি আমাদের অবচেতন মনে অনবরত ধাক্কা দেয়, তা হলো: বিগ ব্যাং-এর ঠিক আগের মুহূর্তে কী ছিল? শূন্যতা? অন্ধকার? নাকি অন্য কিছু?
শুনতে সাধারণ মনে হলেও, এই প্রশ্নটি আধুনিক পদার্থবিজ্ঞানের সবচেয়ে বড় গোলকধাঁধা। চলুন, চেনা বিজ্ঞানের সীমানা ছাড়িয়ে তাত্ত্বিক পদার্থবিজ্ঞানের থিউরি ব্যবহার করে এই বিষয়ে গভীর পর্যালোচনা করা যাক:

১. স্টিফেন হকিংয়ের লজিক: "দক্ষিণ মেরুর দক্ষিণে কী আছে?"
বিগ ব্যাং-এর আগের মুহূর্তটি বুঝতে হলে আমাদের সবার আগে 'সময়' বা টাইম-এর ধারণাটি বুঝতে হবে। বিখ্যাত বিজ্ঞানী স্টিফেন হকিং এবং জেমস হার্টল একটি চমৎকার তত্ত্ব দিয়েছিলেন, যার নাম 'নো-বাউন্ডারি প্রপোজাল' (No-Boundary Proposal)।

আপনি যতই দক্ষিণ মেরুর দিকে যাবেন, এক পর্যায়ে আপনি একদম শেষ প্রান্তে পৌঁছে যাবেন। তবে সেই শেষ প্রান্তটি কোনো তীক্ষ্ণ বিন্দু নয়, বরং পৃথিবীর উপরিভাগের মতোই মসৃণ ও গোলাকার। সেখানে পৌঁছানোর পর 'আরও দক্ষিণে' যাওয়ার আর কোনো সুযোগ নেই, কারণ সেখান থেকে যেদিকেই পা বাড়াবেন, সেটাই উত্তর দিক।

হকিংয়ের মতে, সময় জিনিসটাও ঠিক এমন। বিগ ব্যাং-এর শুরুতে সময় কোনো বিন্দু বা সিঙ্গুলারিটি হিসেবে ছিল না; বরং সেখানে গিয়ে সময় তার নিজস্ব বৈশিষ্ট্য হারিয়ে পুরোপুরি একটি মসৃণ 'স্থানের' (Space) মতো জ্যামিতিক আচরণ শুরু করেছিল। যেহেতু বিগ ব্যাং-এর সেই মসৃণ জ্যামিতি থেকেই সময়ের গতি শুরু হয়েছে, তাই বিগ ব্যাং-এর 'আগে' বলে কোনো কাল বা সময় থাকা গাণিতিকভাবে অসম্ভব। কারণ, তখন 'আগে' শব্দটাই অর্থহীন ছিল!

২. কসমিক বাউন্স: আগের কোনো মহাবিশ্বের মৃত্যু?
কিন্তু সব বিজ্ঞানী হকিংয়ের এই থিওরি মেনে নেননি। লুপ কোয়ান্টাম কসমোলজির আধুনিক সমীকরণগুলো আমাদের অন্য একটি রোমাঞ্চকর সম্ভাবনার দিকে নিয়ে যায়, যাকে বলা হয় 'কসমিক বাউন্স' (Cosmic Bounce)।
ধরে নেওয়া যাক, আমাদের এই মহাবিশ্বের সৃষ্টির আগে আরেকটি প্রাচীন মহাবিশ্ব ছিল। কোটি কোটি বছর ধরে চলার পর সেই মহাবিশ্বটি এক সময় তার নিজস্ব মহাকর্ষের টানে চারদিক থেকে সংকুচিত হতে শুরু করে। সংকুচিত হতে হতে যখন তার সমস্ত পদার্থ একটি অতি ক্ষুদ্র ও চরম ঘনত্বের সীমার কাছাকাছি (প্ল্যাঙ্ক ডেনসিটি) পৌঁছায়, তখন কোয়ান্টাম গ্র্যাভিটির নিয়মে স্বয়ং স্থান-কালের জ্যামিতিতেই এক চরম বিকর্ষণ বা উল্টো ধাক্কা তৈরি হয়।
ঠিক যেমন একটি স্প্রিংকে চেপে ধরে ছেড়ে দিলে তা তীব্র বেগে বাইরের দিকে ছিটকে যায়, তেমনি সেই প্রাচীন মহাবিশ্বের সংকোচনটি এক পর্যায়ে এসে স্থান-কালের নিজস্ব জ্যামিতিক বিকর্ষণে তীব্র শক্তিতে উল্টো দিকে প্রসারিত হতে শুরু করে। বাইরের কোনো পর্যবেক্ষকের কাছে যেটি একটি মহাবিশ্বের ধ্বংস বা মহাকর্ষীয় পতন, ভেতরের ফ্রেমে সেটাই হলো একটি নতুন 'বিগ ব্যাং'!
এই থট এক্সপেরিমেন্ট যদি সত্যি হয়, তবে বিগ ব্যাং-এর আগে কোনো শূন্যতা ছিল না; বরং সেখানে ছিল এক প্রাচীন মহাবিশ্বের শেষ মুহূর্ত, যার গর্ভ থেকেই জন্ম নিয়েছে আমাদের এই চেনা মহাবিশ্ব ।

৩. কোয়ান্টাম ফ্লাকচুয়েশন: শূন্যতার ভেতরের শক্তির খেলা:
যদি ওপরের দুটি থিওরিও বাদ দিই এবং কোয়ান্টাম কসমোলজির অন্য একটি মডেল ধরে নিই, যেখানে বিগ ব্যাং-এর আগে আমাদের চেনা এই স্থান-কাল সচল ছিল না, বরং তা ছিল একটি আদিম কোয়ান্টাম শূন্যতা (Quantum Vacuum) তবে পদার্থবিজ্ঞান বলে, সেই শূন্যতাও আসলে একেবারে শান্ত ছিল না।
কোয়ান্টাম মেকানিক্সের নিয়ম অনুযায়ী, নিখাদ শূন্যতার ভেতরেও অনবরত শক্তির এক গোপন খেলা চলে, যাকে বলা হয় কোয়ান্টাম ফ্লাকচুয়েশন (Quantum Fluctuation)। এই নিয়মে শূন্যস্থানের আদিম ক্ষেত্র বা ব্যাকগ্রাউন্ডের বুক চিরে হঠাৎ করেই জোড়ায় জোড়ায় কণার (ম্যাটার-এন্টিম্যাটার) জন্ম হয় এবং পরক্ষণেই তারা একে অপরকে ধ্বংস করে আবার শূন্যে মিলিয়ে যায়।

বিজ্ঞানীদের মতে, বিগ ব্যাং-এর শুরুতে সেই আদিম কোয়ান্টাম ক্ষেত্রে তেমনই একটি অতি শক্তিশালী শক্তির বুদবুদ বা ফ্লাকচুয়েশন তৈরি হয়েছিল। আর সেই শক্তির বুদবুদটি হঠাৎ করেই এক অবিশ্বাস্য গতিতে চারদিকে প্রসারিত হতে শুরু করে, যা আজ আমাদের এই ট্রিলিয়ন ট্রিলিয়ন গ্যালাক্সিতে ভরা মহাবিশ্বের স্থান-কাল ও পদার্থের রূপ নিয়েছে। অর্থাৎ, কোয়ান্টাম শূন্যতার শক্তি থেকেই জন্ম নিয়েছে আমাদের এই সবকিছু!

পরিশেষে, বিগ ব্যাং-এর আগে আসলে কী ছিল, তা হয়তো আমরা এই মহাবিশ্বে বসে কখনোই সরাসরি ল্যাবরেটরিতে প্রমাণ করতে পারব না। কারণ, বিগ ব্যাং-এর সেই চরম শক্তির দেয়াল ভেদ করে পেছনের কোনো তথ্য আমাদের কাছে পৌঁছানো অসম্ভব।

Whenever we think about the beginning of the universe, our mind goes straight to the moment of that mega-explosion about thirteen billion years ago—which we call the 'Big Bang'. Science informs us that through this Big Bang, our known space, time, and all matter were born.
But human thought is not meant to stop here! The biggest question that continuously pushes our subconscious mind is: What was there exactly a moment before the Big Bang? Emptiness? Darkness? Or something else?
Though it sounds simple, this question is the ultimate labyrinth of modern physics. Let us move beyond the boundaries of familiar science and use the equations of theoretical physics to conduct a deep review on this matter:

1. Stephen Hawking's Logic: "What is south of the South Pole?"
To understand the moment before the Big Bang, we must first understand the concept of 'time'. Famous physicist Stephen Hawking and James Hartle proposed a wonderful theory called the 'No-Boundary Proposal'.
When Hawking was asked what was there before the Big Bang, he asked a question in return, "What is further south of Earth's South Pole?"
The further south you go, at one point you will reach the absolute edge. However, that final edge is not a sharp point, but smooth and rounded just like the surface of the Earth. After reaching there, there is no further opportunity to go 'more south', because whichever direction you step from there is north.

According to Hawking, time is exactly like that. At the beginning of the Big Bang, time did not exist as a point or a singularity; rather, going there, time lost its own characteristics and started behaving completely like a smooth geometric 'space'. Since the flow of time began from that smooth geometry of the Big Bang, having any period or time 'before' the Big Bang is mathematically impossible. Because back then, the word 'before' was simply meaningless!

2. Cosmic Bounce: The Death of a Previous Universe?
But not all scientists accepted Hawking's theory. The modern equations of Loop Quantum Cosmology lead us toward another thrilling possibility, which is called the 'Cosmic Bounce'.
Let us assume that before the creation of our universe, there was another ancient universe. After running for billions of years, that universe at one point began to collapse from all sides under the pull of its own gravity. As it compressed and all its matter reached near an extremely tiny and ultimate density limit (the Planck density), a supreme repulsion or reverse push was created within the geometry of space-time itself by the laws of quantum gravity.

Just like a spring compressed by hand shoots outward with great speed when released, the contraction of that ancient universe reached a certain stage and began expanding in the opposite direction with furious power due to space-time's own geometric repulsion. What appears as the destruction of a universe or a gravitational collapse to an outside observer is a new 'Big Bang' within the internal frame!
If this thought experiment is true, then there was no emptiness before the Big Bang; rather, there was the final moment of an ancient universe, from whose womb our familiar universe was born.

3. Quantum Fluctuation: The Energy Play Inside Nothingness:
Even if we discard the above two theories and adopt another model of quantum cosmology, where our familiar space-time was not active before the Big Bang, but instead it was a primordial quantum vacuum—physics still says that even that vacuum was not completely quiet.
According to the rules of quantum mechanics, absolute nothingness or pure emptiness does not exist. Even inside a vacuum, a hidden play of energy continuously takes place, which is called Quantum Fluctuation. By this rule, pairs of particles (matter-antimatter) pop into existence out of the primordial field or background of empty space and immediately destroy each other to vanish back into nothingness.

According to scientists, at the beginning of the Big Bang, a similar ultra-powerful bubble of energy or fluctuation was created in that primordial quantum field. And that energy bubble suddenly began expanding in all directions at an incredible speed, which today has taken the form of space-time and matter of our universe filled with trillions of trillions of galaxies. That is to say, everything of ours was born from the energy of the quantum vacuum!

In conclusion, what was actually there before the Big Bang is something we might never be able to prove directly in a laboratory while sitting in this universe. Because it is impossible for any information from behind to reach us by piercing through that extreme energy wall of the Big Bang.
But human imagination and mathematical logic take us beyond these limitations. Whether there was a timeless smooth geometry at the beginning of the Big Bang, or the ashes of a dead universe, or simply the energy play of a quantum vacuum, remains an ultimate mystery today. However, this mystery proves just how thrillingly the universe has hidden its own story!

৭(খ): সিলেবাসের বাইরে থেকে এসেছে। এবারের সংক্ষিপ্ত সিলেবাসে অষ্টম অধ্যায়ের সিলেবাসটি ছিল আংশিক। সিলেবাসে স্পষ্ট লিখা আছে- 'বিভিন্ন কোণের ত্রিকোণমিতিক অনুপাতসমূহ' পাঠ থেকে অধ্যায়ের শেষ পর্যন্ত। অর্থাৎ ৮.২ এর পর থেকে সিলেবাস আরম্ভ। কিন্তু এই অংকটি ছিল ৮.২ থেকে।

৮(গ): ইংরেজি শব্দ ব্যবহারের কারণে অনেক ভালো শিক্ষার্থীও প্রশ্নটির উত্তর করতে পারেনি। তাই এটিও ভুল।

প্রশ্ন ভুলের কারণে প্রাপ্ত সুবিধা থেকে একজন পরীক্ষার্থী উচ্চতর গণিতের CQতে অতিরিক্ত ২০ নম্বর পাওয়া উচিত, যেখানে CQ এবং SQ (সংক্ষিপ্ত) মিলে মোট ১৭ পেলে পাস হয়ে যায়।
