Sadia Jahan Rothi, an alumnus of the Department of Environmental Science, Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP), Batch BES-2018 (ES-02), currently serving as an Environmental Management and Youth Engagement Specialist, Centre for Climate Change and Environmental Research (C3ER), BRAC University, and a former student of BES-2018 has been selected as an 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐭 𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰𝐞𝐫 for the 𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐎𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐃𝐫𝐚𝐟𝐭 (𝐅𝐎𝐃) of the 𝑰𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒈𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒏𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒂𝒍 𝑷𝒂𝒏𝒆𝒍 𝒐𝒏 𝑪𝒍𝒊𝒎𝒂𝒕𝒆 𝑪𝒉𝒂𝒏𝒈𝒆 (𝑰𝑷𝑪𝑪) 𝑺𝒑𝒆𝒄𝒊𝒂𝒍 𝑹𝒆𝒑𝒐𝒓𝒕 𝒐𝒏 𝑪𝒍𝒊𝒎𝒂𝒕𝒆 𝑪𝒉𝒂𝒏𝒈𝒆 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑪𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒆𝒔 (𝑺𝑹𝑪𝑰𝑻𝑰𝑬𝑺).

The IPCC is the United Nations body responsible for assessing the science related to climate change, engages leading experts from around the world to ensure its reports are accurate, comprehensive, and reflective of the latest scientific, technical, and socio-economic knowledge.

As an Expert Reviewer, Ms Sadia will assess the draft report’s accuracy, completeness, and balance, contributing her expertise to strengthen the scientific foundation for global urban climate action.

She views this opportunity as recognition of her ongoing work at the intersection of climate science and policy.

This achievement is a proud moment for BUP.

The BUP Public Speaking Club has announced the launch of the 1st edition of MicMasters 2025, a national public speaking competition that aims to recognize, nurture, and reward the finest undergraduate voices from across Bangladesh. Open to all undergraduate students, the event offers participants the chance to showcase their skills, compete with peers from leading universities, and learn from industry professionals and thought leaders.

The competition features multiple stages, beginning with registration and campus promotions from 7–12 September, followed by an online video submission round on 14–17 September and a reform idea pitch on 21–24 September. The event will culminate in the Grand Finale on 30 September at the BUP Campus, where the most compelling voices will take the stage.

Winners of MicMasters 2025 will receive prizes worth BDT 15,000 for the Champion, BDT 10,000 for the 1st Runner-up, and BDT 5,000 for the 2nd Runner-up, with cash awards also extended to participants securing 4th to 10th positions. With the theme to “Speak, Influence, and Conquer,” the competition promises to be a defining platform for aspiring leaders, storytellers, and reformists nationwide.

Labonnya Islam from Department of Mass Communication and Journalism, Batch-03, BUP, got the opportunity to pursue her Master's in Communication Studies at Northern Illinois University with fully funded Graduate Teaching Assistantship.

As a TA, she will be teaching independently "COMS100:Public Speaking course", which is an undergraduate level course.
