JANA KALYAN KENDRA-JKK is a tribal based non-political, non-profitable and non-governmental development organization (NGO). It came into existence on 13th February 1972 by active initiative of some dedicated Manipuri Youths that have long experience in the fields of development of Education, Equity, Unity, Democracy, Peace and Socio-Economic Development to promote and imparting services of the le

ss fortunate and powerless people with the men, women and children of both urban and rural areas irrespective of caste, creed and religion. LEGAL STATUS OF THE ORGANIZATION:

JKK is legally entitled to render community development services and to receive foreign donations for the development services. JKK is registered with the following Government Organizations of Bangladesh are as follows:

1. JKK is registered with the Directorate of Social Services; Government of the people's republic of Bangladesh vides Registration No. JKK is registered with Directorate of Family planning Government of the people's republic of Bangladesh vides Registration No. 6, Dated 21 - 12 - 79.

3. JKK is registered under Foreign Donation Voluntary Activities Regulation Rules 1978, by NGO AFFAIRS BUREAU, Prime minister's secretariat, Government of the people's republic of Bangladesh vides Registration No. 194, Dated 20 - 11 - 85

The VISION of JKK is to establish a society where the disadvantaged tribal communities, tea garden workers and other poor majority and minority people economically productive and enjoy an equitable environment. Objectives of the organization

In order to reach its vision, JKK builds on the following organizational objectives:
• Empowering the poor people for involving them in the process of sustainable development.
• Empower Tribal and landless poor people socially and economically.
• Increase the rate of literacy among tribal and poor people.
• Empower the people to be active participant in the process of development.
• Mobilize local resources inc. curbing HIV/AIDS in Sylhet Division.
• Create linkages within the Division to share information and technical know-how.
• Improve the standard of living and working conditions of tribal communities and tea garden workers.
• Assist local government and NGO efforts in launching mass awareness on development issues
• Reduce discrimination between men and women.
• To share the experience gained from the project with other local and national NGOs, GOB and civil society. MAJOR CURRENT ACTIVITIES:

For promoting the socio-economic status of the beneficiaries JKK has been implementing the following programmes at present in its operational areas:

ANANDO SCHOOL PROGRAMME-ROSC SCHOOL under the project “Reaching out of School Children Programme” with the financial and technical assistance of Ministry of Education, Government of Bangladesh through the Directorate of Primary Education-Government of Bangladesh and World Bank-Bangladesh from 20th April-2013 to 31st. May-2018 for a period of 5 years has been implementing successfully with 100 pre-primary schools with 3,500 learners from class-I to class-V of age group 6-14yearswith the involvement of total 1 Project Coordinator, 2-Upazilla Community Mobilizers (UCM) and 100-school teachers for improving the Education facilities of the rural, urban and slum dweller’s children of out of school and drop out children of Madhabpur and Chunarughat Upazilla under Habiganj District.

Anule inter club copedition (Upojala Level) Under the project of ADOLESCENT club program at Kamolgonj upojala complex on 13-14 feburary 2013. Annual inter club sports & cultural competition (Upojila Level) under the project of THE POSITIVE CHANGE IN THE SOCIETY ORGANIZED BY CLUBS THROUGH ADOLESCENT EMPOWERMENT PROGRAMME program at Kamolgonj upojila complex on 13-14 February 2013. 7 events have been occurred with 112 adolescents from 9 JKK adolescent clubs. There have been 40 adolescents selected for districted level competition. The sports and cultural competition have been justices by upojila officers.

PRO-POOR PUBLIC HEALTH AND FAMILY PLANNING BUDGET MONITORING PROGRAMME.
Major project activities are overall objective is to address the Health Governance issue through Health Budget Monitoring at Micro level (Upazilla level and downwards) to sensitize the community people and give feedback to the government in line with the first fiscal year of PRSP implementation.
Results: All staffs of Health Departments and Government Officials, UP Members and Chairmen and other different professionals were aware and got knowledge on different problem faced in Government Health Department,Understood the process of budget availability and utilization of budget at sub-district and downwards level,Budget availability and utilization process is monitored to give a feedback to the government as fiscal year 2008-2009, 2009-2010, 2010-2011 and July-December-2012 was the pro-poor budgeting year in line with PRSP implementation,Strong lobby and advocacy network established for dissemination of information on pro-poor budget,Sensitized service providers and recipients both at local and national level to improve the budgeting process to reach the poorHealth in PRSP monitoring andAdvisory committee will function for next 3 years
