ইসলামী বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের ইনফরমেশন অ্যান্ড কমিউনিকেশন টেকনোলজি (আইসিটি) বিভাগের ১৪তম সভাপতি হিসেবে আজ (২৫ শে ডিসেম্বর) আনুষ্ঠানিকভাবে দায়িত্ব গ্রহণ করেছেন প্রফেসর ড. তারেক হাসান আল মাহমুদ।

প্রফেসর ড. তারেক হাসান আল মাহমুদ অত্র বিভাগের ৩য় ব্যাচের কৃতি শিক্ষার্থী। তিনি ইসলামী বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় থেকে ইনফরমেশন অ্যান্ড কমিউনিকেশন ইঞ্জিনিয়ারিং বিষয়ে স্নাতক ও স্নাতকোত্তর উভয় ডিগ্রিতে প্রথম শ্রেণিতে প্রথম স্থান অর্জন করেন। পরবর্তীতে তিনি চীনের বিশ্বখ্যাত University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) থেকে সিগন্যাল ও ইনফরমেশন প্রসেসিং বিষয়ে পিএইচডি ডিগ্রি অর্জন করেন।

দীর্ঘ ১৫ বছরেরও বেশি শিক্ষকতা ও গবেষণা অভিজ্ঞতায় সমৃদ্ধ প্রফেসর ড. তারেক হাসান আল মাহমুদ দেশ-বিদেশের বিভিন্ন স্বনামধন্য বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় ও গবেষণা প্রতিষ্ঠানে কর্মরত ছিলেন। তিনি হংকং এবং সুইডেনের কয়েকটি স্বনামধন্য বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে পোস্টডক্টরাল গবেষণায় নিয়োজিত ছিলেন। একই সঙ্গে তিনি ইউরোপীয় ইউনিয়নসহ বিভিন্ন আন্তর্জাতিক গবেষণা প্রকল্পে টিম লিডার হিসেবে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভূমিকা পালন করেছেন।

তাঁর গবেষণার প্রধান ক্ষেত্রসমূহের মধ্যে রয়েছে ৬জি কমিউনিকেশন সিস্টেম, অ্যান্টেনা বিমফর্মিং, সিগন্যাল ও ইনফরমেশন প্রসেসিং, আর্টিফিসিয়াল ইন্টেলিজেন্স, মেশিন লার্নিং ও ডেটা সায়েন্স। দেশ-বিদেশের আন্তর্জাতিক জার্নাল ও কনফারেন্সে তাঁর বহু গবেষণা ও প্রবন্ধ প্রকাশিত হয়েছে।

একজন প্রাক্তন শিক্ষার্থী থেকে বিভাগের সভাপতির দায়িত্ব গ্রহণ—এই অর্জন আইসিটি বিভাগের জন্য অত্যন্ত গর্বের ও অনুপ্রেরণার। তাঁর দূরদর্শী নেতৃত্বে বিভাগটি শিক্ষা, গবেষণা ও আন্তর্জাতিক সহযোগিতার ক্ষেত্রে আরও নতুন উচ্চতায় পৌঁছাবে বলে সংশ্লিষ্টরা আশাবাদ ব্যক্ত করেছেন।

প্রিয় শিক্ষক, শিক্ষার্থী ও অ্যালমনাইবৃন্দ,
আগামী ০৯–১০ জানুয়ারি ২০২৬ তারিখে ইসলামী বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের ইনফরমেশন অ্যান্ড কমিউনিকেশন টেকনোলজি (আইসিটি) বিভাগের বহুল প্রতীক্ষিত সিলভার জুবিলি উদযাপন ও রি-ইউনিয়ন অনুষ্ঠান অনুষ্ঠিত হতে যাচ্ছে।

এই ঐতিহাসিক আয়োজনকে স্মরণীয় করে তুলতে প্রকাশিত হতে যাচ্ছে একটি স্মরণিকা “Reconnected: Through Bits of Memory”। স্মরণিকাটি সমৃদ্ধ করতে আমরা বিভাগের প্রাক্তন ও বর্তমান শিক্ষক-শিক্ষার্থীবৃন্দ এবং আইসিটি পরিবারের সকল সদস্যের কাছ থেকে লেখা আহ্বান করছি।

লেখার বিষয় হতে পারে:
আইসিটি বিভাগ বা ইসলামী বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় ক্যাম্পাস জীবনের স্মৃতি, অভিজ্ঞতা ও অনুভূতি, অথবা
প্রযুক্তি ও তথ্যপ্রযুক্তি বিষয়ক যেকোনো প্রবন্ধ, নিবন্ধ বা রচনা।
